• Undeliverable Outlook 2007 Message
  • I sent an e-mail last night and in checking my in-box today received an undeliverable message. I realized that I had accidentally pot a period between words in the e-mail address so know how to correct the problem and re-send, but can't find my message to do so. It isn't in sent items, drafts, deleted items, don't know where else to look. It was a full page message with one photo attached, so am hoping I don't have to recreate the whole darn thing? -- Technically challenged

• Outlook 2007 Reading Email
  • When I used Outlook Express, I double-clicked on emails which displayed their contents in a seperate window. After reading I would delete the message, I was then presented with the following email in the same window. In Outlook however, it doesn't happen this way - after delete the seperate window closes and am returned to Outlook's main email screen. Is it possible to make Outlook perform as Outlook Express does in this respect?

• Embedded images don't show
  • I recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 and since have not been able to see any embedded images in inbound emails I've searched everywhere for a solution, but have not found anything that rectifies this problem. I don't get that red cross that used to come when an image wasn't available. Intended image locations are plain white and bounded by a thin black border. The image 'does' actually come in to my PC because I CAN copy it into MS Word to view if I really need to see the image. • Outlook wants to access unwanted pst file.
  • Hi folks, From Win XP I did a custom install of Windows 7. In addition to the Easy Transfer Wizard and Windows.old backups, I did numerous other manual backups to my internal "D" drive. Outlook 2003 is being used. One of these backups was D:\Office PST Backup\Outlook.pst After the Win 7 install, I used Easy Transfer to move my files and settings to "C" prior to installing the programs. Now when I activate Outlook the expected .pst presents, but then a cue "path specified in D:\Office PST Backup\Outlook.pst not found". If I go to Outlook\File\Data File Management and delete the offending file, I then get an "Operation Failed" on Outlook startup. It works on the second attempt but then goes through the Backup\Outlook.pst not found procedure again. Same thing happens if I delete the Backup\Outlook.pst file from thje "D" drive. In my Outlook Navigation pane I only have one personal folder, so I have nothing to delete there. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Outlook, and have tried various pst files with no luck. Is there a way to force Outlook into ignoring an unwanted pst? Thanks, Gary

  • I had a calendar item in 2/1. I edited it. then I added a category to it and when I did it copies down calendar every week. Why? I checked my recurrence set up and weekly is the default but why did it copy. Where can I set the default to no recurrence. Recurrence was NOT seleced when I set the category.??? -- Janet A.

  • Hallo, ich arbeite normalerweise mit Tobit. Weil ich das Notebook vorübergehend mit Outlook betreiben möchte, habe ich von einem anderen Rechner die .pst kopiert. Die darin enthaltenen Mails etc. werden angezeigt. Es fehlt aber der Menüpunkt Konten. Zunächst habe ich die Software von Tobit deinstalliert. Die Konten fehlen aber immer noch. Wie komme ich wieder an die Konten, bzw. wie kann ich ein Konto neu anlegen? Gruß K.-D.
• Outlook 2003 A Dialog Box Is Open
  • A friend of mine called because all of a sudden her Outlook 2003 started popping up a message "A dialog box is open". Actually this is the second time this has happened. As usual I Googled on this problem and most people seem to think that the dialog that's hidden is the one that pops up when you first install office and open an application that asks you for your name and initials. The first time around I tried opening Word / Access and PowerPoint and that dialog never opened, most likely because it had already been filled in after the initial installation. I did a complete uninstall / reinstall and started word and filled the dialog out and that was three months ago and there's been no problem up until now. So now this is happening again and I've checked in word tools / options / user information tab and the information is filled out. I've been unable to find any other information on this other than in Outlook 2007 a patch KB946983 was known to cause this and uninstalling it fixed the problem. I checked both add / remove programs and searched the windows directory and this patch (if it's even relevant for Outlook 2003) is not installed. As I'd rather not spend two hours uninstalling / reinstalling and the putting on all services packs and patches does anyone have an idea about how to remedy this? Thanks, - Chris

This is what I've tried to do: * Delete old profile and create new profile through mail in contro panel. * My technician deleted the old pst files and created new files. * Uninstalled Outlook and reinstalled Outlook. * Used switches to try and reset profile and reminders. * Used Windows Clean Up Install Utility . * Changed the pst in Data File Management. * Checked with ISP Optus to make sure all the settings are correct. * Disabled add on progams such as antivirus software. I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium. I've been to three technicians and a major software company and poste several times on other forums but nobody seems to know the answer t this. I'm thinking it may have to do with the registries but I'm no sure. Basically, all I need is a fix but I would rather if someone would tel me how I can completely clean Microsoft Outlook 2003 from my compute and then reinstall it as if it never existed.   • I have no idea how this happened, I have multiple new computers runnin outlook 2003, one of them does not display the field at the top of th screen showing if they have replied or forwarded a message like normal I cannot find any options to turn this off and I am kinda lost at thi point, has anyone else seen or heard of this issue and have to fix it? • Outlook 2003 Crashing
  • A friend of mine is having a somewhat serious problem with Outlook and so far I've been unable to fix it. One day it was working fine then when she went to start Outlook it reported that it had crashed, the exception code appears to be 0xc0000005 which I've Googled. In most cases people have reported this problem being caused by a corrupt profile or a damaged office installation. Before trying anything else, I ran a chkdsk with both "automatically fix file system errors" and "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" just in case this was some disk related problem. As far as I can tell there were no problems found and the disk was reported clean. I first tried deleting the profile and creating a new profile but the same thing happened. I then uninstalled Office 2003 and did a complete reinstall and after setting up the account again the exact same error occurred. Outlook will start in safe mode but I can't get it to start normally. Can anyone offer some idea's on how to deal with this problem? Thanks, - Chris

  • As a former user of Outlook Express, I was able to check in File/Properties/General/Details to Message Source, to check on the address of the sender of an email. This was sometimes important to know. With the Outlook supplied with Microsoft Office Professional 2007, the above functions seem not to be available - have I missed some obvious route?

  • Dear list members, I use Outlook 2007 under Win XP. In December, I downloaded Nokia's new "Ovi Suite" software, connecting my Windows machine to my Nokia handset. Synchronising with Ovi suite truncated the longer entries in my MSO Contacts fields (some 200 entries). Fortunately, I back up my HDD regularly, so have the data elsewhere. I have repeatedly sought Nokia's help in restoring the lost data, but they have yet to reply. Thus, my backed up Outlook contacts are now out of date. I am therefore trying to merge my backed up Contacts data with that now on my machine. The merge should be sensitive both to December's truncation, but also to the possibility of data added since then. I would be very grateful for any suggestions.   • Hey everyone, Quick question that i'm stumbiling over. I have a manager who wants his group of employees to be able to edit emails within the generic mailbox that we created for their department. However the one thing they DO NOT want certain people to be able to do is delete emails that have come into these boxes. Any ideas on how to put this in place -- I have full access to my ms exchange server however when i attempted to give the groups that i assigned these guys to, and denied them access to Deleting Storage that did not work.   • This should be a fairly easy thing to find, but maybe I'm just missing it. When I get an e-mail from someone not on my contact list, how can I save their contact information without having to enter it in manually? I can't figure out how to do this on gmail either! Should be a fairly easy thing to do, you would think.

  • Using Windows XP and Office 2007 Have installed the necessary components for the instant search, and it is working fine. One of the computers on which this was installed displays a new icon that looks like a magnifying glass in the system tray. The second computer in the office on which this was installed and on which the instant search is also working, does not have the magnifying glass icon in the system tray. By the way, is it still called the system tray? I'm talking about the lower right corner of the task bar at the very bottom of the screen.

  • Someone I'm helping has Outlook 2007 under Windows XP. He is unable to search e-mail folders for "sent by" or "keywords" or other filters. What I mean is that if he selects "All Mail Items" and moves the mouse to the search tool (the top of the screen with the magnifying glass icon) and then clicks on the 2 drop down arrows (with the hover text "Expand the Query Builder", all those query boxes are grayed out. Can anyone tell how he would enable them so that he can do fast searches of his mails in Outlook? Is this something to do with the indexing service on his PC? If so, how does he find out if it's installed and indexing properly. Is indexing a standard component on Windows XP or is it an additional download? Thanks Peter

  • Hello there, I am getting out of resources error when using Outlook 2003 client while trying to open personal folders and with an exchange 2003 server backend. Sometimes I get "the set of folders cannot be opened" error while trying to open the pst files.   • Hi all, I just came back to outlook after years. I'm testing the 2010 beta and god, I'm impressed. One thing though I would like but can't achive; In the favoutites pane, you can set up favourite inbox so you can have a quick glance at what's going on on your favourite account. Great, but I would like to be able to have all inboxes in that place. To be specific, I want all the folders etc as they are now but want to be able to preview all incoming mail from many accounts by clicking just one button. I don't want it to move and merge emails from many inboxes into one physically I just want it to combine the view of them... Sorry I can't really descirbe it properly ;0 That's why I've attached a pic.   • My wife and I each publish our calendars to the internet using Office Online. Now when I open Outlook, it wants my password for the intenet calendar.   • Good day, we receive reports from our database system in landscape plain text format which are then saved to disk and further processed with systems such as MS Excel or Access. Problem is, that since Outlook 2007 these e-mails get re-formatted by Outlook (adding line breaks according to the display on the screen) causing all Excel / Access routines to break. In Outlook 2003 this did not happen. Is there a way to prevent this and save the .txt e-mail as it comes from the server? Thanks n brgds Philipp Post

  • Hello, I always ysed OE for my mail but now that I got a new PC with windows 7 I have to use Microsoft Outlook since OE does not exist in Windows7. I want to create a rule which will say if the message is from ....... OR in the subject there is a word ...... move to file ...... I can't seem to understand where the OR option is. In OE there was an OR option for rules, here in Microsoft Outlook I can only find the AND option. Maybe I have understood it all wrong.   • I'm having an odd problem with outgoing email in Outlook 2003. I just got a new laptop w/XP Pro and loaded the MS Office Standar Suite w/SP1. I also downloaded and installed Office SP3. I set up Outlook email w/all my POP3 settings and tested the setting in Outlook -- all fine. Incoming email is no problem. However for some outgoing emails, I ge an immediate (and I mean instantaneous) bounce-back message that look like the following: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: Test Sent: 2/5/2010 12:13 PM The following recipient(s) could not be reached: thelsey1@optonline.net on 2/5/2010 12:13 PM None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient. The problem seems to be specific to certain email addresses. Som addresses I send to are fine; others get that instant bounce back. An there seems to be no domain patterns. For example, some gmail addresse work, others don't. to check to make sure it's not my ISP or settings, I set up Outloo Express w/the same settings and all emails went out flawlessly -- n bounce back issue. What's curious is how quickly the emails bounce back. It's not lik it's traveling to the recipient, and being processed, and the returned. It's like it's being immediately rejected. I've uninstalled and re-installed Outlook 2003 and SP3 to no avail. also did a system restore to an earlier point to see if some software loaded might be causing a conflict, but the problem persists. I als disbaled my anti-virus software...problem still persists. Anyone hav any idea what the problem could be -- markgrossman

  • Using Outlook Express version 6 w/ XP Pro sp3 connected to a Linksys rouiter/ Wirespeed dsl modem is there any reason that I should have an active directory server in OEv6 populated with null values? I just removed it after doing screen captures on the general and advanced views. Thanks S

  • Windows XP pro Outlook 2003 I have my email working My calendar has transferred properly I see my contacts folder but I can't use it to send an email to multiple recipients. I get the following error: "The address list could not be displayed. The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Outlook Help" I believe that's where I got the advice to uncheck "Simple file sharing" When I did so it appeared to me that I had all the rights I needed to get this working. I also tried various kinds of "exports" and "imports" that are provided in Outlook's menu None has worked. Any help will be appreciated

Its where it asks you if you want to save a copy of messages on the server and then should give an option for it to be deleted from the server when you delete it from your Deleted folder in Outlook. That seems like a good way of syncing things.
