• Downloaded songs no longer appearing in Media Player
  • Hello! I have been downloanding and ripping songs for a few months now and they all appear in Media Player once I play them once. Nothing has changed to my computer or software systems (I'm on Vista and using Limewire). Now, for some reason, the songs I'm downloading will play if placed in the "Now Playing" area but do not save to the Media Player library. Is there a possibile limit to the number of items in the player? Any other suggestions? I appreciate any ideas anyone would pass along as I'm working on a project and cannot afford to lose what I've already saved. Thank you! akruse123
• WMP playback speed
  • Hello......... I recently purchased a Canon DC420 camcorder and use a Video Converter which works fine. The problem is the playback speed on WMP. It is way too fast and can't seem to get the speed acceptable. When I use the speed settings and go as slow as possible still way too fast. Have the play speed under "PLAY" on menu bar set to slow and play speed slider all the way to the left under Play Speed Settings. When I let the video play through and try it again the slider will come back to the middle of blue bar. Wanted to use the videos for YouTube but doesn't look like it's going to work out. When I play the video back on the Video Converter program the speed is fine? Any ideas or suggestions would sure be most welcome. Thank you. Wayneg

Webpages may also contain malicious script commands that run on your computer without your knowledge. By default, script commands will not run. • Windows 7 media player 12 hopelessly bugged? Can't rip.
  • I have just installed windows 7 and media player 12 comes with it. Media player seems to work ok, but when I tried to rip a song I discovered a rather severe bug. I can't rip anything, if I press the rip button it fails instantly. I discovered the likely problem is that under the location where songs are saved on my computer (under options, and ripping settings), there is no path listed in the storage location. The path is blank. You cannot type one in there, it simply won't work. Pressing the "change location" button does absolutely nothing at all! Nice feature, huh? Has anyone encountered this bug and perhaps have a work around? This is frustrating to have such a obvious software problem that apparently no one else has.

  • Hi folks I am hoping there is a clever sould amongst you that can help me with this issue. I had windows media player 11...and for months and months it would play streaming content with no issues, there was no long time in buffering... and there was no hanging for minutes on end like I am gettimng now.... I have checked with the company who I purchased streaming content thru and it isnt there end....I can use another player ona differetn site with no issues same with flash players.... but these guys only offer it in windows....What I am wondering is what I can do to fix this...I rolled back to ten....and I still have this result....it isnt my connection as I am on a high speed extreme cable connection and and yes thye do throttle major torrent d/l ers... but I am not one of them.... any help or ideas you can suggest would be greatly appreciated folks....I did try reverting back to wmp 10..... but I have the same results...any suggestions folks...all serious thoughts greatly appreciated cause this is making me mental....lol..... thanks people for uour input in advance
• bass level when ripping
  • I am having a problem with how WM is ripping my cd's. Lately, all of my songs that are ripped seem to have trouble with the bass after they've been ripped as I have had to crank down all of the new songs. I have checked songs that I ripped a while back, and their bass levels are fine. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks.

• CD-R Plays on computer and in car-but not in CD player
  • I burned wav files- taken off a zoom H2-- the files play fine-- in fact the burned CD plays great - in the computer and in the Honda Cars CD players- but it does not play at all on the home CD players-- I need to be sure the CD I give out does play on smaller CD players.. any ideas? thank you !

  • Hi, How can I submit metadata to the Microsoft database so that when someone purchases my albums and inserts them the media player automatically knows the track names etc.? I've tried Gracenote (CDDB) but that works with pretty much anything other than microsoft software. Thanks, Michal
• cannot play file
  • 'I recorded a .wav file with a Zoom recorder and it won't play now. I get the message: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.' When I was recording it seemed ok but the stop button didn't react as usual and came up with 'card error' on the Zoom. It won't play on any other player either. I wondered if there is any hope of mending the file? Any advice gratefully received!
• No DVD Sounds with Windows 7 and WMP12
  • Hi there, When i try to play a DVD with the WMP12 that comes with Windows 7, I don't get any sounds, I do get sounds with .mp3, .wmp but not with DVD. I tough Microsoft included the necessary codec to be able to ear sounds when playing DVD. Or is there a know issue? • When opening a media file from email....
  • ... you click on the file, and it normally would say in option boxes... open/save/cancel... I don't get the option to open the file. It goes automatically to save, and I hate saving each and every file on my computer, I realize it will make a temp file if I watch it, but, I don't want to have to delete each file when I watch it. How can I change this option in my player? Thanks

  • Help! I have an HP Pavilion laptop with Vista (unfortunately) and want to move my music files to my new Asus Netbook with XP via a flash drive.   • I have a sansa clip that was originally recognized by WMP 11/windows vista but now WMP will not recognize it. The sansa clip works on another computer with same version of WMP but windows xp, so the problem is not with the MP3 player. USB mode on the mp3 is set on MSC. Please help

• Corrupt File Fix
  • During the video process, the laptop fell and shut down. The video in progress was saved and plays in the movie player, etc. but I cannot edit the video in Live Movie Maker. The video file has a thumbnail in all but the Movie Maker where I get the error message: 0x87160132 Also, in the player I cannot fast forward or use the other controls except 'stop'. What is the fix for this problem? Thanks
• How to stop Media Player from changing playlist names?
  • How can I stop Windows Media Player from changing my playlist names by inserting a "My Playlist - " in front of the name I give to the playlist? For example, if I name a playlist "ABC" the next time I start up WMP, I find it now has a name of "My Playlist - ABC". I rename it back to ABC but then the next time I start it up, it's back to My Playlist - ABC. Any idea why this is happening and how I can make it stop? Using WMP 11 on Win XP. TIA.

• Not able to see picture but can hear it
  • Can you help me please. When I save any video from my camera, I am only able to hear the video there is no picture. It used to save in quicktime, so I uninstalled quicktime, I realize that anything saved in quicktime format i may not be able to see, but I have tried new videos now and I am not able to see them. I am using Windows media player 10. The sound is great, and it just shows the lightening type lines through the screen instead of my video. Thanks for any help.

• Updating DRM For WM Player 11
  • Every time I try to update the DRM, I am able to go through the process of downloading it....but, when it comes to near the end of the process, I get the message "....unable to download update".... After that, the IE version 8 locks up....and I have to use Task Manager to get out of it. (This is the only time IE 8 locks up). Unless there's an alternative to downloading the updated DRM File. gary
• Obtaining DRM key for network media player
  • I am using an ATT U-Verse cable/router box, which also media sharing from my PC on the network. After selecting "Share my media" from Windows Media Player 11, no device shows up, even though the cable/router is see on network. ATT support told me it is a DRM issue and I should call Microsoft to obtain a key (?). Not sure about this?

• Getting my Library to match my Folder structure
  • This question has been asked before in various incantations, but I have to blow off some steam here. I WANT TO DELETE MY MUSIC LIBRARY THEN HAVE IT RESCAN MY MUSIC FOLDER (D:\MUSIC) PICKING UP JUST WHAT IS THERE AND REFLECTING THE DIRECTORY STRUCTURE WITHIN. The reason is that the "Library" keeps showing me some duplicate entries and a couple of "artist" folders not named the way I want. I assumed I could kill the library database, and have it rescan the folder. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get the old library deleted for good. Now, I have tried this a couple of ways, the most promising seems to be: Organize / Manage Libraries / Music. Remove the one and only folder there (D:\Music). Say OK. Library empties. Then go back and Add it again, the library comes back exactly as it was. Can anyone help before I blow a gasket? Thanks, Rob
• Strange Problem
  • Windows 7 64bit, WPM 12. For no rhyme or reason when playing music (mp3's) the whole system locks up. When playing music using ITunes it happens, but not as often. After a minute or two the system clears up, but will freeze again. It's not consistent. Sometimes during the first song and sometimes after 10 songs. It acts like Explorer is freezing. I uninstalled WMP12 and reinstalled and it seem fine for a day, then started again. I dual boot with Vista and the problem doesn't exist there. Is there any basic stuff I can check first, before I have to pop a couple aspirin and start digging deeper? :-) -- "Don't pick a fight with an old man. • Library organization and synchronization for dummies
  • Hello I don't know how to organise my music library so that it keeps the same structure as the stored files: i.e. first the name of the artist (or a generic name for compilations) and then the name of the albums. This not so much trouble for listening music with my PC, but when I try to synchronize with a MP3 player, all albums get mixed. So if I sort by artists and I have got letâ??s say 3 albums from the same artist, then I will get 3 tracks # 1 then 3 tracks # 2, then 3 tracks # 3,etc without knowing which album it comes out. If I sort by album names all artists get mixed (imagine how many â??liveâ?? album you can get) and so on. Is there anyway that you can sort your music by artist then albums or vive versa, without loosing the first rank information ? If someone is kind enough to answer me, please take into account that English is not my native language which makes me doubly dummy on that subjectâ?¦ -- Claire

• why won't my album update?
  • I am trying to rip a cd to mp3, but when I put it in, it comes up with the wrong media information. I tried to change the album information, but it won't recognize the final track (the album it pulls up only has 14 tracks) and I can't change the art. when I tried to search for the correct album, there were more than 500+ albums. how can I get my album to rip correctly? thanks :)

• WMP 11 Sort now playing playlist by when file was added
  • I'm having a problem where I can't seem to be able to sort my playlist by when the file was added to it. It seems to be defaulting to sorting by alphabet no matter when it was added. Is there a way around this? I used to be able to do this with all my other computers but this one is not working properly.
• WMP sees sync devices differently by user??
  • I am experienceing unusual behavior with WMP11. I am running Windows XP-MCE with SP3, and a Sandisk Sansa c240, all firmware and software up-to-date. I have 3 user accounts set up on the machine - 2 administrative and 1 limited. The Sansa is recognized as an MTP device, and appears as a portable device in explorer, and device manager under both administrative accounts. However, WMP only sees it under one of the administrative accounts (the one I'd prefer not to use). - When connected, the WMP instance in questions briefly displays "Sansa c240 detected" in the bottom right status area but the device never appears as connected or "syncable" and does not appear under the device list in the "more options". - I can then switch user, logging in as admin account 2, open WMP, and see the device in WMP fine, just as I used to be able to do under admin account 1. All behaves normally - I can sync, disconnect/reconnect etc. If I switch back to admin account 1 - still no device. The fact that both accounts report them in explorer and device manager leads me to think the problem is somewhere in WMP. This behavior seems odd to me, and I'd really like to be able to only use the one account - the one I use on a regular basis for all computer management. As for the reason I have 2 admin accounts - one is the default OEM admin account (which I have kept pristine except for the password) and the other is my personal admin account which I have on all my home network PC's for ease of credential administration. Any thoughts about how I might restore things to their original state of funtion would be greatly appreciated!

• MP3 Files not Included in WMP Library
  • I Have several thousen MP3 files on disk. Some hundreds of these will not include in the library. Exs. A folder contains a symphony with four movements. Only M1, M2 and M4 is included. M3 is missing. With an earlier WMP version all files was in the kibrart. A PC rebuild changed all this. Have tried WMP 9 but no luck. I am using WMP 11 under Windows XP Professional. --

  • Hi - I have windows medial player 11 (2006). I ordered 2 CD's from amazon (ministry; running tracks) and have tried to rip them onto my laptop. However, whilst it says that is has ripped all 3 CD's whenever I insert a acd in, it hasn't ripped them. After alledgedly ripping them, it only seems to recognise 1 CD and this remains the only one in my library. This has happened for both CD's therefore I can neither play my CD nor download them onto my mp3 player..problematic as I want to run to this music! I can't imagine they are protected since the idea of this cd is to run to? Please can someone help me soon?? Vani
• Tracks won't play
  • Hi there, this may be a bit of a long explanation...I am using Windows XP Professional, 2002 version with Service Pack 2. Until last week I had Windows Media Player version 11, and all my music played fine. Then I got a virus, and I had to have everything wiped and reinstalled. I have just downloaded Windows Media Player today (using Version 11.0.5721.5145) and imported all my music to it. The first track I tried to play said it needed a licence to play it, so I downloaded one. Now, however, the track (and album) which prompted me for a licence along with many of my other albums won't play, it sounds like it is sticking and skips to the next track after 4 or 5 seconds. I haven't been prompted for a licence by any other tracks. All of my music is ripped from CDs - I have no downloads - and I can't see any pattern in which albums play and which ones don't. Please help! Thank you.
• Playing DVD content using Windows Media Player 11.
  • I have the necessary codecs installed which are required to play DVD content using Windows Media Player 11 under Windows Vista Business SP2. The discâ??s AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders were copied to the computerâ??s hard drive. I double-click the VIDEO_TS.IFO file to begin playback. If Windows Media Player is restarted the content resumes play at the point where Windows Media Player was originally closed. Is it possible to always have Windows Media Player 11 play DVD video from the beginning title either from a setting within the normal interface options or perhaps through a registry adjustment? Any suggestions?
• Windows media player 12 cannot detect my mp3
  • I use windows media player 12 on windows 7 x64 and for some reason it won't recognize my MP3 player anymore. It used to work just fine, that's how I put what I have on there now, but now it can't find it. My computer knows the MP3 is connected, but not WMP. I try to go to WMP Options -> Devices but i can't see my MP3 and click refresh button many times but it didn't work. Please help me to fix it.

  • At the end of all my songs the music messes up for a second or two before continuing to play. It happens at the same point on all songs that I try and play. Any ideas?
• WMP is a blank window when opening
  • Usually, when I open WMP, it works fine. But sometimes, including the several times I tried today, when I open it, I just get a Window which is mostly blank. The title bar says Windows Media Player, the back and forward buttons are there (grayed out), the controls (stop/play, volume...) at the bottom of the window are there, but the main part of the window is completely blank - nothing. It doesn't let me close or minize the window from the upper right of the window. After a few minutes of a blank screen, I close WMP through the task manager. I have Windows 7 Professional and Windows Media Player 12 on my 2 month old computer. Thanks, ~Mark

  • I manualy deleted files from my Pictures folder and they are still showing in my library on wmp12. It will not let me delete the so called ghost files of files that no longer are there from my wmp12 library. How can I get these older photos off the list? Setting this up for a network PC for the family and do not want folks to see stuff like WifesBoobs, or what not on the list. And Hush..... most every one got some thing like this on there PC. • Deleted Files Still showing
  • I am having issues with MP11 and files still showing after deleting them from my PC. ghost images is the best way to discribe it. Not there but mp11 still thinks they are. I even went as far as to remove mp11 from my PC and then placed it back. Is there any way to just clear all of mp11 to new like a fresh install of windows and start over? Any thing to clear this out.   • I have version 11.0.5721.5268 and for some reason it won't recognize my ZVUEspirit MP3 player anymore. It used to work just fine, that's how I put what I have on there now, but now it can't find it. My computer knows the MP3 is connected, but not WMP. I tried everything the Help files told me to do to no avail. I had version 10 when I first synched it, but my ONYX MP3 was also synched using 10 and it works just fine on 11. Can anyone help before I bite my computer in half from sheer frustration?
• Windows Media Player AVI Problems
  • I am having intermitten problems (wmp locks up) streaming avi files on freshly installed/updated Windows 7 clients. In some cases, disabeling Media Foundation/avi associations fixes the problem. But not in all cases. Server logs show Media Center info passed from the client in cases where its not fixed. Have tried serving videos from vanilla IIS and vanilla Lotus/Apache servers. This is _not_ a server issue. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hi My Samsung S3800 phone doesn't register when I plug it in and I can't sync from Media player onto my phone. I can access my phone through the CD software that I got with the phone but the phone icon doesn't even show up in the 'My computer'. Help!
