- saving/moving dbx files

Running win xp pro with IE8 and OE6. Had to reformat PC so I saved all of my
OE dbx files (have created a lot of subfolders for different vategories of
emails). After reinstalling windows, I created my email account in OE and
then copied my saved dbx files back to the location where they were saved by
OE. Only some of the emails I had in my inbox moved and none of the
subfolders appeared at all. I've done this before with basically the same
procedure, so now I am confused as to why everything is not showing. Any
ideas would be truly appreciated. Thanks.

How can I import the message store
folders and messages from Thunderbird?
The Thunderbird HELP indicated one
could specify Eudora in the Import
wizard, but that did not work at all.
Any suggestions?

- OE Compacting problem

Specific problem:
In the last couple of weeks, Outlook Express has a pop-up every couple of
minutes that tells me I can save space if I compact the folders. I clicked
ok once. My inbox got deleted. I was able to restore it but the messge
keeps coming back. It is popping up on both my home and office computer. I
have Nero Starsmart on Home computer but not the office computer
IE version 7
OE version 6
full Windows version WinXP SP3
Windows (Desktop) Search is not installed.

Hello,
I was in outlook 6 and added a new folder.
After adding the folder I created a Message Rule.
I then applied the message to all the folders
and everything including what was in my sent folder and deleted folder
was moved to the new folder!
AUGH!
I then thought I would be smart and move everything to the Inbox - which it
didn't like -
after about 8 minutes, an error popped up saying, 'Can't Move File'.
The Inbox wouldn't even accept 1 email, even when it was coming in from the
server.
I then closed of the folders and "compact all folders".
The Inbox now works, however, I lost 4 months worth of emails!
I would really like to get them back,
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

- Importing Single DBX Files

Here's my issue.
My friend's DBX files became corrupted (for whatever reason) and he
seemingly lost all his mail. It may have been just the pointer that was the
problem as I was able to restore most of his messages from the DBX files in
his "Outlook" folder.
Everything seemed to be better, but although I got about 90% of his messages
back, there is still a block of them missing. I beleieve I may have found
them in the *.BAK folders in his recycle bin. I retrieved & renamed them and
am now tyring to import them to a separate folder in OE, but it's not letting
me. I created new folders in OE to match the names of the .DBX files I want
to add and I've also checked to make sure they're not read-only.
When I try, I get the message that "No messages can be found in this folder
or another application..." etc.
Can someone advise what I'm doing wrong or how I can get around this? Thanks

- OE won't send attachment when I right click on pic file or documen

Help....I am unable to right click on a picture that's saved to my desktop
and send it to an email recipient. It opens the window for the email - but
when I go to type in the name in the "To" box my keys don't work. I have
tried everything. Any suggestions????? Thanks

A compact message comes up very regularly - certainly not every 100 times I
open or close OE6.
Sometimes in the middle of the night the PC gives a series of beeps for
about 30 seconds. I suspect that this is related.
If I say no to "Do you want to compact?" I cannot open OE6: I get a message
that an instance of OE is already running. When I log off OE6 has to crash
and send an error log to Microsoft.
I am alarmed to read that one should not do anything while compacting is
taking place. There are no warnings about this in the messages from OE. It
does not make OE appear to be very robust.

- Undeliverable Hallmark Greeting Card

Hi All
Attempting to send Sierra Hallmark greeting card to a Mac computer (non-
Windows) via EMAIL, but am advised by my Dell computer (Windows XP) that the
other computer requires Windows OS to receive the greetings. My emails
(without attachments)are delivered without any problem. If that is the case,
is there any other way to effect delivery?
Appreciate any helpful advice.

Windows IE8 SP3 OE 6
No source tabs when creating an html templet and saving to the desk top or a
folder outside of OE. Works okay if saved to the drafts folder in OE.
Worked fine before IE8 and SP3.

- Synaptics Touchpad scrolling under OE6

I have Synaptics Touchpad v5.9 (7.12.3.0) installed on this Gateway
laptop. And when I open a post in its own window, the touchpad scroll
works fine. Although my five Asus EeePC which use a newer version
Synaptics Driver v6.3 will not scroll the window from the touchpad. Also
just tried the newest version and that one doesn't work either. If I use
a mouse, that scroll anyway works. So has anybody else seen this
behavior from Synaptics Drivers and OE6?

I have a client who recently reported that
they no longer get any response to clicking
on a link included in an e-mail. I logged
onto their computer (LogMeIn) and
confirmed. The URL's are in fact valid
links, as opposed to simple text. So, I
don't see any reason why the mouse
actions are un-responsive.
Any thoughts?

Outlook is trying to download emails but they dont appear in my inbox. I am
not overly computer literate, but overly frustrated! Where are they? I need
them? And why are they looking like they are coming through and then go
away?????? eg the inbox number rises and then goes back to predownloaded
number.

After http is discontinued in favour of POP3,despite following the
instructions twice,I am able to see my hotmail messages in inbox.But Sent
items folders remain empty and I cannot send the mails with Error 0x800ccc78
It also says STARTTLS should open first.

- How to set OE as mailer for Guest account?

I am use Win XP SP3 with Office 2003.
How can I set OE as the mail program for the Guest account, which does not
have administrator privileges?
I go into IE Internet Options > Programs, select OE for E-Mail, then click
OK.
But when I re-enter IE Internet Options > Programs, E-Mail has reverted to
Outlook.
I presume that is the reason why I cannot forward NG postings from OE. I
get the Microsoft Office Outlook error "no profiles have been created".
I have tried configure IE Internet Options > Programs when do no other
programs are running, notably OE.
If non-administrator Guest is not permitted to make such a change, how can
someone do this for Guest from an user account that does have administrator
privilege?

I forgot to inform that the TWO PC's are Networked thru a Router!
We have shifted from a SOHO to a nearby Office. We have two PC's both with
Win XP SP3 and OE6 with separate User ID's. We have two separate Email Id's
but we would like receive ALL incoming Emails in both PC's for Business
purposes. As such, I would like to know if there is any way we can share
Emails with separate User accounts under XP.

- Outlook Express Completely Corrupted - Please Help

Hello,
I had Outlook Express 6.0 on Windows XP Home Edition with SP3 for the last
couple of years working perfectly fine.
Yesterday when I opened OE, my system froze for some reason and I did a
Ctrl-Alt-Del and closed the application OE from the Windows Task Manager.
Then I rebooted the System and opened OE and the whole OE got corrupted.
Here are the problems.
I had about 5 News Server Accounts with different subscribed newsgroups with
current downloads.
1) A couple of news server accounts lets say N1 and N2 were "automatically"
(reverted back) reset back to posts dated 12/8/2008 even though they were
"current" yesterday.
2) For N1 and N2 accounts, when I right click on the server names in the
(left) Folders window, I get NOTHING when I am supposed to get the MENU with
"Properties" and other options "Open", "Find",.......etc
3) When I highlight N1 or N2 server accounts in the folders window, the
TOOLBAR automatically changes to "Create Mail", "Send/Recv", "Addresses" and
"Find" options when it is supposed to be ""New Post", "Reply Group", 'Reply"
"Forward"......etc options
4) Is there anyway I can restore OE back to the way it was the day before
yesterday with all the News Server accounts working AND the posts "current"
5) If I reinstall OE 6.0 from the Windows XP CD, would I get back all the
original functionality WITHOUT disturbing all the downloaded posts in all
the News Server accounts. By the way I use a couple of News Service
Providers for my 5 News Server accounts and N1 and N2 are from different
News Service Providers. So the OE problem has nothing to do with the News
Service Providers.
Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

- Is it OK to encrypt my local email using the encryption file system?

Are there any problems with encrypting all of my Outlook Express
files?
If I do encrypt the files, will it in fact make the contents
the various files and pieces of files that Outlook Express leaves
around unintelligible, even to anyone, including myself, who has
access to my account?
Currently after I Compact my folders I can access what was the old
contents by looking at the Recycle Bin or use a lost file recovery
program to access various other things that are left around.
For example, P i r i f o r m R e c u v a v1.30.435 files the
deleted "file" "C:\Outlook Express emails.zip" of "Unknown" length.
When I then right click to recover the file, I get zip file that I
can look inside of to reveal various ".dbx" folders, each containing
".eml" files that Outlook Express can read.
Here are my system particulars:
I am using Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 with all Microsoft
Updates stuff up to 2009 September 12 except for I.E. V8 (using V7)
All my disk partitions are NTFS.
I have my Outlook Express "Store Location" set to the default
folder, which on my system is something like:
C:\Documents and Settings\markf\Local Settings\
Application Data\Identities\
{30E72C38-C783-4D9A-8795-774E7C4D826E}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
I want to open use Explore to set the Store Location folder for
encryption by going to:
C:\Documents and Settings\markf\Local Settings\
Application Data\Identities\
{30E72C38-C783-4D9A-8795-774E7C4D826E}\Microsoft
then right-clicking on "Outlook Express", going to the
"General" tab, clicking on "Advanced...", putting a check mark
in "Encrypt contents to secure data" and then clicking on the "OK"
button.
