- Outlook Attachment Blocking - Strange Behavior
-
Hello
Folks have sent me messages that have a sequence of files. For example
the message will have several attachments listed like this: 1.pdf.,
2.pdf,3.pdf.
It looks like MS Outlook reads the attachment as =93.pdf.=94 and =93.pdf,=
=94;
which is technically an unknown file extension, instead of reading
each attachment as a =93.pdf=94
I am able to view =93.pdf=94 attachments
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Anthony

- OL 2010: subfolders not sorting correctly
-
I'm not exactly sure what I did, but after I did "it," I found that
one of my subfolders is sorted out of order. Even after I ran
scanpst, the problem is still present:
Here is a partial list of subfolders:
Sales Process
Search Folders
Sent Items
2010 Status <- obviously out of order.
Strategy
Until "it" happened, the "2010 Status" folder was properly grouped
with other folders whose name started with "2010." Now I can drag
2010 Status into another folder as a subfolder. Then if I MOVE the
folder back to the main folder, 2010 Status sorts back to its wrong
position.
What do I do?

- Bad user experience for Outlook 2010
-
In the new Office 2010 PRO, I have met many problems. Microsoft needs
to improve Office 2010 user experience. Here are my complains.
1. Ribbon interface is the only choice. You cannot get back to the
old interface. For many business people changes are a disaster. Not
everyone can spend months to adopt a new system. Where is my Printer
Preview icon? Where is my recall function? I cannot waste time to
find the new function or learn the new interface. I want the old
interface back.
2. Nonsense message box. When I close an opened attachment file in a
message without any change, why do I need to confirm Save/Don't Save/
Cancel? That's very ridiculous.
3. Unintelligent process for replying emails. When I open an
attachment and change the content, I have to save the attachment first
and attach it back in an new email. This is very dull. You should
put an option to let people reply or forward the email. Who is going
to forward an email before they check if the attachments have to be
modified or not?
Why Microsoft cannot heard what people want? Innovation is good;
however, over reengineering is not good. Please think for the user
who has no time to learn a new system. Otherwise, why don't I try to
use Apple's products? Please provide solutions for them.

Hi
MS outlook web access question
**************************************
I have MS Outlook Web Access. I can only do plain text emails.
I am sure it is the latest version of MS Outlook Web Access as it is

The sys admin/ IT person at this company did not have an answer for

I do not seem to find an editor to highlight words in yellow, or make
certain words in BOLD or change the size of the fonts etc.
Is this feature available in MS Ouloook Web Access? and how do I turn
it on?
Please let me know.

Is there a way progam(vb.net or c# or vba) to open the form automatically,

This only happens on my XP machine (my main machine), not on my

I searched online and see i'm not the only one having this issue. It
seems pretty fundamental, but I have yet to see a solution.
Does anyone know of a way around this problem? I hate the thought of

- Outlook saves sent messages when it is not supposed to
-
I have Outlook 2003 and Windows Vista.
Under Email options, I=92ve unselected the =93save copies of messages in
Sent Items folder=94
I created a rule to be applied when receiving a message:
If the subject contains vuvuzela, permanently delete the message and
reply using an .oft file whose subject line contains vuvuzela.
Then I created a rule to be applied after sending a message:
Move a copy to the Sent Item folder except if the subject contains
vuvuzela
If I send a message with vuvuzela in the subject, the item is not
saved.
However, when replying using the .oft file, it does save the message
in the Sent Items folder.
I can I correct this?
Can it be done using VBA?

Hello,
In Outlook 2007, is there a way to see which distribution lists a
contact is a member of? We have lots of lists. We want to be sure that
if we delete a contact in a group, instead of just removing it from

Even a way to export to Excel would be ok, if there's nothing else.

- Can I stop Outlook re-naming existing contacts with GAL name?
-
Hello,
I've imported some contacts from a PST file to Outlook 2007. On many

resolved the addresses to the GAL and re-named the imported contacts

example above.
Does Outlook do that and if so how to prevent it from doing that?

It appears that the problem that I'm having with bounced emails appears to be
only to email addresses in the .au domain. I just sent a couple of emails to non

- Outlook Can't Send Messages
-
This morning I fired up Outlook 2007 (running under Windows 7). It retrieved all
new emails.
I then tried to post a new email, (not a reply). However, the nano-second that I
clicked on "Send" I received a reply from "System Administrator".
It said this:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: The Train Meltdown
Sent: 27-Jul-10 1:18 PM
The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:
xxxxx@xxxxx.com.au on 27-Jul-10 1:18 PM
None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient.
I have 3 active email accounts. I tried sending it from each of them with the
same result. They all send via different SMTP servers, too.
I then tried sending emails to other people. Same result.
When I clicked on "Message Properties" to view the headers from this mythical
System Administrator, there were none. The field where you view them is blank.
I'm having to use webmail at the moment to send or to reply to emails.
Everything was fine last night when I turned the computer off.
I'd really appreciate any suggestions to troubleshoot this one as I've run out
of ideas.
Thanks.

- Reset Outlook 2007 to default

Hi
I use a laptop to teach end users Outlook 2007, but find it extremely
time consuming to set outlook back to it's original "factory" state
after each course. At the moment I do the following:
Delete the old training profile and recreate it
Delete the training pst file
Rename the OUTCMD.DAT file.
Run the Outlook.exe file with all the reset and clean switches
Recopy my sample pst file that contains some messages etc to use in
the training
However there are still settings such as shortcuts on the navigation
bar, the size of the navigation bar, the minutes interval on the
calendar etc that are not set back to default.
Is there a macro or an exe file available anywhere that I could use to
clear settings? In Outlook 2003, the detect and repair was very
helpful in this regard!
Thanks

- Problems with Archive file location - Outlook 2007
-
Hi all,
By default, Outllok 2007 Archive.pst file is located in
C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook folder
but I want to keep it in MyDocuments
One of reasons is that I noticed Windows 7 Backup has difficulties restoring
files to C:\Users\[user]\AppData folder.
So I moved the Archive.pst file to the new, desired location, made
appropriate changes
in Control Panel/Mail (32-bit).
Everything is great until I restart my computer (relogin does not cause
problem).
After restart system adds Archive file to the original location, so then I
have two archives, but messages get archived to the wrong one.
Any ideas how to permanently move Archive to the desired location?
Thanks,
Thomas

Now, is there some way that I can click on that field to toggle it
on/off?
I am using Office 2007 Pro.

- new emails not indicated in subfolders
-
Greetings
Using Outlook 2010, when mail arrives in the Inbox, a number appears next to
"Inbox" to tell me how many unread mails are there - great!
I have set up a number of subfolders underneath my Inbox, and have set up
rules to divert emails from particular people into their own folder. It all
works fine, except that when a mail arrives in one of those subfolders, no
numbers appear to let me know there is unread mail.
Is there a setting somewhere that will let me have this facility?
Many thanks
JP

- Locate a mail folder in hierarchy
-
Originally posted to "microsoft.public.outlook.general":
I'm use to Thunderbird (TB), where the mail folder tree is
implemented
as a file folder tree outside of the mail reader app. In outlook, I
created a mail folder "Subject1" and put into it messages related to
Subject1. Obviously, I didn't put it where I thought I did; it was
nowhere to be found when I ran into more Subject1 messages later on
in
my Inbox cleaning. In TB, I can use the file search to look for
where
the Subject1 folder resides in my hierarchy. I can't do that in
Outlook. Is there a good alternative?
Using Outlook's advanced search, I found some good subject-line
phrases that located messages in the Subject1 folder. I still didn't
know where in my mail folder hierarchy it resided. Is there a way to
find out where the mail folder resides in the hierarchy from the
messages in the mail folder?
I am using Office 2003
P.S. Why are there two groups, "microsoft.public.outlook" and
"microsoft.public.outlook.general"?

- email question
-
Outlook 2007 / Vista Home Premium
Not even certain I know how to ask this one.
I have moved my pst from Outlook on one PC to Outlook on another. Both
are Outlook 2007.
For some reason - maybe by design - my email settings did not accompany
the pst file (although all email messages already received DID transfer).
I set up a new account so I can get email and it works perfectly.
My problem is I now have 2 accounts(?) in the Outlook that my pst was
transferred to - one named as the original pst and one created when I
created a new email account. What I want is one pst with the email
settings associated with it. How do I do this? There is only one
account in Tools|Account Settings and that is the one I created.

- Outlook saves sent messages when it is not supposed to
-
I have Outlook 2003 and Windows Vista.
Under Email options, I=92ve unselected the =93save copies of messages in
Sent Items folder=94
I created a rule to be applied when receiving a message:
If the subject contains vuvuzela, permanently delete the message and
reply using an .oft file.
