  • Office Outlook 2007 License Question
    • I purchased Office Outlook 2007 a couple years ago and I installed it once and uninstalled it and haven't used it since. (I found the minor things I need to track for myself can be done with Access 2007.) Can I resell the product? Will I be violating any license agreement? Thanks, James

  • 250 recipient limit when sending a message to categories?
    • Hello, In Outlook 2002/2003, when you select one or more categories in the Contacts folder and select Action - New Message To Contact, you get a "the messaging interface has returned an unknown error" error message if the number of recipients is over 250. We've migrated from another system which allowed unlimited personal distribution lists and we migrated the members to categories, so this is a big issue for us. Anyone know an easy workaround PLEASE? Outlook 2007 and its unlimited DLs isn't an option yet. Thanks, - Alan.

  • Returning to outlook, having a problem
    • Hello, all. I"ve toyed with Outlook a lot in the past, and am now deciding to go ahead and use it full-time. Problem is -- I screwed around so much with it, there's a bump there that I don't know how to deal with. I had created several .pst files, but don't know which ones Outlook is looking at. I decided to delete them one by one and see which one has the data I need. After some experimenting, I found that mailbox.pst has everything in it. I had at one time created a file called jeff.pst. I erased it (it's still in the recycle bin if I need to get it back). When I start Outlook, everything seems fine, all the data loads. But then I get an error message telling me that jeff.pst cannot be found. Somewhere in Outlook it's looking for jeff.pst, but I can't find it. Can someone tell me where Outlook is asking for this file? This is Outlook 2003 on a WinXP box. One more question -- I have hundreds of messages I want to bring into an Outlook folder. They're currently in a Seamonkey mailbox (Mozilla-based). Can someone tell me how to do this? I can't find an import feature that does this. Thanks! -- ------------------------------------------ Jeffrey Needle jeff.needle@gmail.com

    • Hi, I have a strange problem and I cannot pin point when it started. I us Outlook 2007 and when I compose a new message I cannot type the eur symbol in the email body until I type another character first, a spac for example. Sometimes I cannot type it at all but more times than no inserting a character first fixes it. As I said I cannot recall when the last time it worked okay as I don' use it that much. • Deleting Files
    • Is there a way in Outlook 2010 (beta) to get the "do you really want to do this" message when shift-deleting files? Also, in 2010 there is an Inbox in both the folder listings for "Outlook Data File" and "my email address" headings. What's the difference. I'm moving up from Outlook 2002....big jump!

  • Import from Outlook Express does not work correctly
    • Hello, I recently migrated from Outlook Express to Outlook (after briefly testing Windows Live Mail, which I don't like). But I have a problem: When importing my mail messages from OE, the import feature does not import a large number of messages which are stored in a folder cvalled Lists, which contains all the email lists which I subscribe to (all other folder are imported correctly). I don't really understanjd why these folders with their contect are not imported - but instead I have tried to drag-and-drop the *.eml files from OE into Outlook. But when I do so, I get the error message "The objects cannot be copied". And then this message shows up: "The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using." I have previously managed to import eml files by simply drag-and-dropping them into Outölook. Why does it not work now? And how do I verify the switch I am using?? Please help! Hans

  • HTML mail: how can I print messages and all attachments in one go
    • Hello, We have a few secretaries who printout most messages for their bosses. That's just the way they work, they see things better on paper. Anyway, when they receive messages in HTML format, they can't just press Print to have the message text and any attachments printed; instead they have to select each attachment and print it separately. That's driving them mad, especially as we've just migrated from a third-party mail system which did exactly that. Is there any way to make Outlook 2002/2003 printout the message and all attachments in one go please? Telling them to convert the message to plain text first isn't feasible. They have a lot of messages to handle and a lot to do apart from this. Thanks, - Alan.

  • Creating a Mailing List in Outlook
    • That's what I want--a simple mailing list, or 'group,' created from m own Contacts Directory, so I can just click one or two keys and send a e-mail to many, many people. (Instead of adding dozens of e-dresses on at a time) It used to be simple to do this in old Outlook Express. In fanc Outlook 200s, however, all I find is a lot of stuff about Merge Mai and a lot of instructions re envelopes--real mail, in other words Simple instructions for this simple task much appreciated -- bill marsano

  • Can't Use Word As Editor after Windows Live Update
    • Hi, I have Office 2003. Microsoft wanted to update my Windows Live Messenger and after getting tired of saying no for months finally said okay. What a mistake. My Outlook defaults have been changed. Not all of them, just some of them. The images in my signature are messed up and I can't format them. It's hard to explain there are so many little things that are different. The most frustrating thing is that the box to use Word 2003 as an editor in Outlook is now grayed out. If I could start there, perhaps things will become more clear. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Michele

  • File attachments in Outlook..?
    • We have a customer that requires email data, a spreadsheet with pics, copied into the body of the message, not as an Excel attachment. When a user within our Exchange 2K3 Org emails like this to me, in HTML format, and I reply, in HTML format, she see's it as she sent it. When the same user emails the same email to my External acct(Comcast), I do a reply from the same Outlook client, she receives the email the same with the exception that the pics are now also in the Attachments bar in Outlook. Why is this and can I stop the pics from also going to the attachment bar. Thanks, Tom...

  • Two lists of contact folders
    • Outlook 2003 sp3 Internet version (Stand-alone, at home) It appears that there are two lists of Contact folders in my Outlook application. One list is the list that shows up in the Folders pane of Outlook when I have Contacts group selected. It has the following entries: Contacts [644] -[This is bold] SML 100106A SML 100106B SML 100106C SML 100122A SML 100122B SML 100122C All seven of these entries have an icon of a contact card to the left of it. This is also the list that shows up when I go to Tools | E-mail accounts, and select "View or change existing directories or address books". The last six entries are folders I created as part of my mailing list duties. The second list shows up when I add a new contact folder, either by using the menu bar: File | New... | Create New Folder or when I right-click on the Contacts folder in the Folders pane of Outlook. It is a different list, with some overlapping items. [folder icon] SML 081017 [folder icon] SML 081219-1 [folder icon] SML 090105 [folder icon] SML 090113 +[single contact icon] SML 1000106 A [single contact icon] SML 100122 A [single contact icon] SML 100122 B [single contact icon] SML 100122 C [single contact icon] SML 1000106 B [single contact icon] SML 1000106 C I can't find these first four, that have folder icons next to them, anywhere that I can delete them. I guess it doesn't really hurt to have them there, but I'd like to clean it up. The only place they show up is in the Create New Folder dialog box, which does not have a delete option. Any suggestions?

  • Need advice on using Outlook on two computers
    • I frequently travel for a week or two at a time. At the office, I use a desktop computer (XP w/Office 2007). When traveling I use a laptop (XP w/Office 2003). I can easily upgrade the laptop to 2007, but I don't think that solves my problem. I want to be able to use all my Outlook files and Contacts from my desktop on my laptop while traveling, updating my contacts as I travel, and then update all that info on my desktop when I return. What's the best way to do that? What' I've been doing is copying the outlook.pst from my desktop on to a thumb drive. The I copy that .pst file to the appropriate location on my laptop, as working from the thumb drive is too slow. When returning to the office, I reverse the process. Is that the best way of accomplishing my objective, or is there something easier? Thanks in advance, Bob

  • Sharing Information
    • Using Windows XP and Office 2007 on a home computer. Using Windows XP and Office 2007 on an Exchange server at work. I am able to send a distribution list and a calendar appointment FROM home TO work and drag and drop those email attachments to the contacts folder and the calendar. Everything works just fine. But I am not able to send a distribution list or a calendar appointment FROM work TO home. The email attachment that is created is not something that I can drag and drop to my home contacts folder and my home calendar. Is there some setting on the Exchange server or my work workstation that would enable me to forward those items to my home system?

  • Contact Lists
    • In Outlook 2003, on a new message, when I clicked the To: button, the Select Names dialog box window would appear. Under the Address Book title in the upper right hand side, I could get a list of my different contact folders. The first was Contacts and the subsequent ones were more contact folders that I created. Now, in Outlook 2007, I can only get the Contacts folder shown. Is there a way to get all eight of My Contacts folders listed? Thanks, Gordo

  • Opening Attachments?
    • I have a Win XP Sp3 machine with Outlook 2003 Sp3 installed. This has worked previously. If I am looking at the email in the Reading Pane and there is an attachment I can click the attachment it works correctly, however if I "open" the email via a double click and then attempt to open the attachment I get an error related to the Outlook Secure Temp folder. There are no files in the OSTF location and the user has local admin rights on the machine. Also if the user creates a new email and adds an attachment and wants to view the file attached before sending there is also no luck. FYI: No Viruses No Google Crap No permissions per user she is a domain admin and a local admin It does work from the Reading Pane Outlook Secure Temp folder exists correctly and proper permissions are set Thanks, Kris

  • Error 1406
    • Hi Everyone: Thus far, I am only a wannabe new user. I am not able to even get Outlook 2007 installed because every time I try, I receive the following message: Error 1406. Setup cannot write the value to the registry key \sketchObj.SketchInk. Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance. For information about how to contact PSS see C:\Users\Edward~1\AppData\Local\Temp\Setup 00000408\PSS10R,CHM and then the installation stops and has to be aborted before I can continue with anything. I am really frustrated. I am also getting very disappointed with Microsoft support. The fact that I am able to install this program on my XP desktop but not on my VISTA laptop means to me that there is a problem (among many others) with VISTA. Now Microsoft imagines that I am going to go out and purchase Windows 7? Please help. Thanks, Ed

  • Rule Question
    • SBS2003 with Exchange 2003/Outlook 2003 clients (7 total) I have a very specific need and am looking for guidance on how to approach it. The 7 people in my office constantly get incoming and we send emails out that are specific to certain projects. What each user doesn't see is the communication that the other 6 users have related to these projects. I thought about telling users that each time they send an email or receive an email related to a project to put a copy in a designated Public Folder so that everyone can see all of the correspondence. This relates more to outbound emails than inbound. Now the only problem is leaving it to the users to (or forgetting to) put a copy of that correspondence. Then I thought about creating an email address in Exchange just for that project (call it ProjectA), so when the users send outbound mails all they need to do is cc "ProjectA" and then in the ProjectA mailbox I can create a rule that says when mail comes in to put a copy in the respective Public Folder. The user would also have the ability to verify that email address in the cc because it would be an actual email account on the Exchange. What would you do here to solve this problem? Thanks! -Richard K

  • Show Contact's Business Phone on Task View
    • I am running Outlook 2007 on 64-bit Vista. I have customized my Task view to show the fields I want to see. When I attach a task to a contact record, then go to the Task View, the "Business Phone" column is blank, despite the fact that the contact has a business phone listed. The same is true with the "File As" column, the "Company" column and all the other phone number columns. Is there something I need to do to make the information from these columns translate over to the Tasks viewpane? Talina

  • Deleting items in the Inbox
    • My boss runs Windows 7 ultimate with Outlook 2007 Enterprise Edition. Sometime when she deletes emails from her Inbox with the delete key, sometimes the email doesn't appear to delete, yet a new one appears above or below it. As soon as she re-sorts, it's fine, that email deletes. It almost looks like a video driver issue, but the laptop has all the latest drivers. The problem is much worse with the Preview Paine enabled. She has only about 1300 emails in her Inbox. I rebuilt her profile with a new PST, repaired Office, Windows update, etc... Anyone seen this before...? Any ideas how to fix...? Thanks, Tom...
