- public calendar default settings
-
Using Windows XP and Office 2007
I have my default Outlook calendar and have created a second public calendar
that is shared with others on my Exchange server. The default reminder
setting for my default Outlook calendar is 1 hour. That seems to also be
the default reminder setting for the things I put on the public calendar.
However, the public calendar items do not need reminders. But when I change
the default reminder setting to "none," that has now become the default
reminder setting for my personal calendar as well.
Is there a way to set separate defaults for separate calendars??

- Any phone dialers that integrate with Outlook?
-
I want one program (is this called Contact Management?) where I can
contact people by clicking an email link, IM (Skype, MSN, Yahoo) and most
importantly phone dialing. In the same place I can click their email
address I want to be able to click their phone number and have it dial. I
will hear the dialing on my computer speakers because its using a phone
modem (is USB best?). When they pick up I should be able to talk to them
with the phone modem through the computer mic. If this isn't possible
I'll have to pick up the phone and hang up the computer connection - not a
good solution. Any recommendations? In the future I'd like to run my
life on my laptop and the phone will be part of it. I hate cell phones
with their poor voice quality so I'm concentrating on POTS (traditional)
phone lines as my calls are important. Also if I'm calling a cell, its
much better if one of us has a good line. If both of us have lousy
connections communication is severely hampered.

- How do I use the Outlook Address Book in Word 2007
-
Our company used to use Groupwise along with Word 2007. I could do individual
envelopes using the address book on Groupwise. Now we have Outlook 2007 and
my address book was migrated to Word. But when I try to do an individual
envelope and click on the Outlook Address Book, it says there are no entries
in the address book. Do I have to re-do all my addresses in Outlook? Or is
there a way to access this address book?

- Problems with Delayed Email Sending
-
I am working in Outlook 2007 on a Exchange 2003 server with all of the
latest patches and service packs applied. I have a workstation that
is trying to send out a delayed message overnight (5:30 AM). She
prepares the e-mail properly, and it shows up in the Outbox, awaiting
to be delivered. When the user leaves for the evening, her
workstation goes into standby mode. The following morning, the e-mail
is not sent until she brings her PC out of hibernation.
Shouldn't the message go thru, where she is logged in or not?

- Viewing Source Code in Outlook
-
In Outlook Express, when forwarding a message with those annoying forwarding
hashmarks and vertical lines on the left, there was an option of View,
Source Code and by deleting any instance of "<Blockquote XXXXXX> and
everything between the arrows, I could remove these vertical lines.
In Outlook 07, I cannot locate this feature. Is there another way to clean
up these messages before sending them off ???

- Manually archive Outlook Journal items: wdkcalex.dll can't be
-
I created a PST file "Personal Folder2006-2009" so that I can drag
into it old mail, calendar items, and journal items. Within that PST
file, I created three folders (one for each of the three classes of
items). When I dragged the mail and calendar items into that PST
file, I had no problem. When I dragged my journal items into that
file, I got the error message
"The add-in "C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SapGui\wdkcalex.dll" could
not be installed or loaded. The problem may be resolved by using
Detect and Repair on the Help menu." [ OK ]
I had to press OK about 12 times before this message stopped showing.
I am not aware of using any application related to SAP.
I have the following two questions:
1. How can I tell whether I lost anything in the transfer?
2. What is that file for, and do I have to worry about it?

- Optional Forwarding As An Attachment
-
I'm new and I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.
With Outlook 2003 is there a way to forward an email "As an Attachment" one time but not the next time without making changes in your email options each time.
With Outlook Express you could just right click on an email to get the option of forwarding "As an Attachment".
Some times I want to forward emails as attachments and some times I don't. It's a pain to have go into settings changes each time for this..

- Custom data in Outlook
-
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction?
At the moment I am using Outlook 2003 for all the usual stuff; contacts,
email, tasks etc. But I would like to create folders of custom data, to be
stored in my outlook pst file rather than creating separate databases in,
say Access. This could vary from anything as simple as a folder containing
all my web logins (3 text fields, txtWebAddress, txtUserName, txtPassword)
with a simple listview, to more complex records requiring bespoke Forms for
data entry.
I am an Access developer so comfortable with VBA. I thought this would be
easy to get going with, but does not seem to be intuitive in Outlook.
Can anyone tell me how easy it is to do what I want and if possible provide
any tips or point me in the direction of good tutorials etc.
Many thanks for any help,
Jim

- Auto-Categorization?
-
Is it possible to automatically assign categories based on certain criteria
(like e.g. location)?
Reason: I find it a bit tedious (and often forget) to assign proper
categories. But since certain of these are redundant (e.g. with certain
appointments already the location could automatically imply the category) it
would be handy if OL could set the category automatically...

- Can one sort entries without due dates after entries with due dates?
-
I'm using Outlook 2007. I would like to sort all to-do entries without due
dates AFTER entries that have a due date.
When I define a sort order of descending due dates, Outlook sorts those
without a due date to the end but of course also those that do have a date
in reverse temporal order which I find useless. Using *ascending* due dates
sorts those without a date first, which I find annoying.
So, is there a way to tell it to sort "non-existing" higher than any real
date?

- importing fix for 2010?
-
I just tried the beta of Office 2010 and can't do much of anything at
this point. Can/will anyone tell me if the importing is a major--and
temporary--problem for the beta? Following the instructions EXACTLY
neither the Gmail calendar sync program works nor will Outlook import a
comma separated value file of my contacts.
Another question: I see nothing online about newsgroup account settings.
Does this mean the ability, whether directly or via some add on, to
handle newsgroups has been removed?
I loved 2007 but, sadly, have bought four computers since buying it so,
to continue to use it will mean a phone call to India or Pakistan to try
to get it activated and since I have Home and Student Office with
Outlook as a standalone, it means two phone calls of from ten to twenty
minutes each and, as I don't mind Thunderbird, it's simply not worth it.
I had decided to give 2010 a try but it looks more and more like I might
be gone for good. Oh, in case anyone doesn't understand about the four
computers, it doesn't matter if one removes Office from a machine or
not. Three machines and you're done with the easy, online activation.
I spent over a month with phone calls and e-mail trying to get the magic
counter re-set, even pointing out that because of activation they KNOW
it's not actively operating on ANY computer and, thus, I must be telling
the truth, I simply want to be able to install and run it on my two new
units. They actually said they believed me but there was no way to fix
my problem!
Thanks,
Tim

- Instant Search --- include subfolders?
-
Outlook 2007
This seems to have been touched upon in one or two other posts, but
the Q&A got sidetracked. Just to be sure...
I have my own Mail Folder named "Saved Emails," with several
subfolders.
If I select the Saved Emails folder and perform an Instant Search, it
doesn't find the target items stored in subfolders. I can't find a
checkbox to enable subfolder-included searches under Instant Search.
Does such a feature exist? (It seems not. Rather an obvious gap,
wouldn't you say?)

- VBA Code to Delete an Email After it is Processed by VBA
-
The following code is a hybrid from several internet sources. Mostly
from this forum.
I have an application that starts an email thread and assigns a Task
ID like: TID(123) This is the Subject
When an email is received with "TID(###)" somewhere in the subject, a
native rule then copies it to a subfolder under the CurrentFolder
called 'TID'.
The following code works to copy the email in msg format to its
associated network directory, but the email remains in the
subfolders.
What I am trying to accomplish is to automatically delete the email
after it is processed by VBA.
Is there a simple method of doing this?
Sub CopyEmailToProjectFolder()
Dim OL As Application
Dim NmeSpace As NameSpace
Dim strConnection
Dim mTID
Set OL = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
Set NmeSpace = OL.GetNamespace("MAPI")
Set Inbx = NmeSpace.GetDefaultFolder(6)
Set fldr = Application.ActiveExplorer.CurrentFolder.Folders("TID")
For Each itm In fldr.Items
subtxt = Trim(itm.Subject)
'SubTxt = CleanString(SubTxt) 'removes characters that cannot be
part of filename
subtxt = Replace(subtxt, "_", "")
subtxt = Replace(subtxt, "??", "'")
subtxt = Replace(subtxt, "`", "'")
subtxt = Replace(subtxt, "{", "(")
subtxt = Replace(subtxt, "[", "(")
subtxt = Replace(subtxt, "]", ")")
subtxt = Replace(subtxt, "}", ")")
subtxt = Replace(subtxt, "/", "-")
subtxt = Replace(subtxt, "\", "-")
subtxt = Replace(subtxt, ":", "")
subtxt = Replace(subtxt, ",", "")
'Cut out invalid signs.

- Print styles
-
Using Windows XP and Office 2007
Although we keep our corporate calendar with a work week of Sunday through
Saturday, there are times when I would like to print only Friday, Saturday,
and Sunday information to give to the weekend staff.
Is there a way I could create a new print style (daily, weekly, monthly are
the default options) that would allow me to print just those three days?

- Outlook 2007 tasks
-
Whenever I add a task it is always copied about twice. I'd assumed this
was because I synced two phones with the same info. But I notice I've
got half a dozen 'owners' of tasks.
I'd dearly love to merge or edit all these owners into one person (which
after all is only me).. Some tasks have no owner if grouped using
'owner' Can it be done? Or at least tell Outlook to use only a default
owner. Thanks for any help.
