Is there a way to make a set of personally placed guides stay with a
template and/or with a presentation and/or with an individual slide?

- slides not showing on left in preview mode/when you hit play

Helping someone out.
It is set to extended desktop in preview.
When we click play show, the big slides will show
but the slides on the left are all blank (white) but
when you click to go to the next one they will play?
Tried changing the graphis options with no luck.
Also I noticed that the save command is grayed out
and the icon is.
It has a detachable toolbar that play or save to web just below
the standard tool bar? Not sure if this is affecting the output?

- Images in Master slides

I want to add an image in the Master slide view that will go on all slide
except the Title slide. I can add it to all slide but can't take it off the
title slide. I am using 2007.

I have created a number of hyperlinks in my presentation but for some reason
I am not being allowed to make a hyperlink to all of the slides. These
slides do not appear in the preview when I go to try to make the hyperlink.
Does anyone know why this could be?

- Delete paragraph indent markers from PPT.

I am editing a PPT presentation that has piles and piles of paragraph indent
markers. Even when I slide them all to the left, there is a huge chunk of the
text box that is blank, and I have to position all the text - in the boxes -
identically on each slide.
So, I just want to delete some of the indent markers from the ruler so they
aren't all stacked up like an abacus. MS has no answers.

In Slide Sorter View, I can select slides to "hide". Is there a way
to show that a slide is hidden when I'm working in Normal View? I'm
using Office 2003 in Windows XP.

- Powerpoint '97 videos

When I insert a movie into PP '97 I insert it to be played automatically.
Trouble is when the video has played and I click the mousse the video plays
again instead of moving on to the next slide as it should. How can I crack
this?

- Edit Link menu option grayed out MSPP2003

I am trying to link to (not embed) a png file. I used Insert, Picture, From
File then chose Link to File from the Insert button drop down. The graphic is
placed on the slide but does not appear to create a link, since the Edit,
Link option is not available (is grayed out).
I have also tried Insert, Object, Create from File, selecting the Link to
File checkbox. In that case, I get a message that says "It isn't possible to
create link to (path and filename)."
Can someone tell me what is causing this problem? thanks

- Text converter - pb tyo read a ppt from netherland with a Powerpoint 2007 in France

Hi to all
I received a ppt file - so a 2003 version - from a correspondant in the
Netherland. I am in France (may be - ? - the fact that the countries are
different has smthg to do with the problem).
I can't open it meither with a 2003 powerpoint nor with a 2007 powerpoint,
and same negative result with a powerpoint viewer.
The document itself was originally created by a 2003 powerpoint, then
modified by a 2007 powerpoint, but saved in ppt (ie 2003 version).
When I double click on the document, it cannot be opened (id when I select
"open" inside of the software), and an error lmessage appears that say:
"Powerpoint ne peut pas lire à partir de <arborescence et nom du fichier>.
Aucun convertisseur de texte n'est installé pour ce type de fichier"
That means: " Powerpoint cannot read this file. No text converter is
installed for this type of file"
My question are:
- what is this text converter that is mentionned?
- I tried to download such a text converter, but didn't find any?

- Miscellanous Powerpoint 2007 Questions

Hi,
I am an adult education teacher and the following questions came up in class:
1. When using a text box on a slide and making bullets, the text that is
continued to the 2nd line is not indented. Why is this?
2. Why when you ask for a font replacement, you get an error stating "you
selected a single byte font to replace a double byte font." Why is this? Is
it because the one selected for the replacement is not installed?
3. When using Translation, why does the "insert button" show for some
languages and copy shows for other languages?
4. When creating a text box, put words in the box and select justify, the
text left aligns. Why does it not justify?
5. With ruler turned on, and nothing selected on slide, ruler started on the
left at -5. Why is this?
Please advise so I can give my class answers this Saturday. Thank you.

- PowerPoint has stopped working message at startup

PowerPoint's been making me nuts on one of the PCs here.
VISTA, PPT2007
Suddenly it started giving me "PowerPoint has stopped working" messages
at start up. Subsequent attempts to start it got me offers of Safe
Mode and after that, Detect and Repair. No joy.
At one point I turned Windows/Office update loose and let it have its
way. That got PPT sorted out.
For a couple of days. But like Arnold in the Terminator ... it came
back.
A bit of research and some registry diving got me here:
Message: "PowerPoint has stopped working" at startup.
PowerPoint won't start.

In my case it seems that the problem was Jaws PDFCreator (or its
PowerPoint add-in, at least). Perhaps it's not compatible with
VISTA/Office 2007. In any case, with it out of the picture, PPT seems
happy. I'm still waiting to see if Arnold appears and Terminates PPT
again ... fingers X-ed.
If you've come up with any other solutions to this problem, let's hear
the details ... they may want to find a home on this same page.

I am making a presentation and I need to send the organizer of the event my
PowerPoint. I want to send the presentation but I don't want them to have
the notes to my speech. How do I send the presentation without the notes
(other than to have to go and delete all my notes before sending)?

I am trying to teach myself powerpoint. i have 2 problems so far.
1- how can i get it to automatically move onto the next slide without having
to use the keyboard to prompt it and
2 - i have added music (from windows media player) but it only plays with
the first picture, and i would like it to keep playing through all the

- Hyperlinking Excel to PPT address changes

Hi Folks! I am inserting a hyperlink in PPT 07 to an Excel file. I am
creating the hyperlink address to be in the following format for Excel:
Filename.xls#â??worksheetnameâ??!A1. I of course am using my own titles and cell
referencing. However, when I create this address in the link, save the PPT
file, close it, and reopen it, the address in the hyperlink address is
changed to just Filename.xls and leaves off the worksheet and cell locations
as well. The hyperlink address will not retain that info for some reason. Has
anyone ever seen this? I am using PPT and Excel 07 with SP 2. Thanks!

save the file in that format, but how can I make it read-only? Mark as Final
only works in 2007.

Does anyone know if there is a freely available ppt slide object or
smartart graphic of a 3D staircase, like a series of stacked boxes,
which I could reuse, adapt, and label each step with text? Or do I
have to build it from scratch? I have PPT2007.

- How do I view the new templates thumbnails

I have a manager who recently moved to 2007 and when she opens PowerPoint,
Microsoft Office Button, New... there is no dialogue box with the template
options with thumbnails. What she gets is the same box that used to open in
2003 when you wanted to use a template.
How do I fix it so that she sees the 2007 style options?

I know that Word includes a feature for comparing two documents using
synchronous scrolling, but cannot seem to find the feature in Powerpoint. I
did see it included in the flash file for Words "Interactive - Word 2003 to
Word 2007 command reference.exe" but do not see anywhere to add it to the
View tab...

- Font size issue in PP2003

I have a slide master which has the title set for 28 pt font. Also title
slide with same font size setting. I have a second slide master (different
background).
Every time I insert a new slide and type in the title field, it sets it down
to 24 point font. I verify the master, even try reapply layout, and it stays
24 point. I have changed the master to 32 point title, and now the slides
come out with 28pt titles. Why does the title size on the slide not match
the title size on the master when I create a new slide?
How do I get rid of this stupid behavior? It is making no sense why I
should have to go to each slide and change the font size of my title so they
look consistent.

- Copy slides with source formatting in PowerPoint 2010

Hi All,
I am trying to copy a slide from 1.pptx into 2.pptx, till PowerPoint
2007 just copying the following two properties used to bring all
background information into the destination slide
dst.Design = srcSlide.Design
dst.ColorScheme = srcSlide.ColorScheme
But in PowerPoint 2010 I even tried using the "Copy slides with source
formatting" as shown at "http://skp.mvps.org/pptxp001.htm"
but then also the gradient fills and texture fills are not getting
copied to the destination slide unless i click "Apply to all" in the
"Format background" dialog.
While the same VBA code (given at "http://skp.mvps.org/pptxp001.htm")
work perfectly with PP 2003 and 2007, it is not working with
PowerPoint 2010 (unless I do "Apply to All" as mentioned above)
Is this a bug in PowerPoint 2010 or I need to do something extra to
copy those formatting information from srcSlide to destination slide.

Hi,
I have a powerpoint presentation with links to several Excel spreadsheets.
However, the link in the Powerpoint presentation has the outline of the excel
cell around the linked data.
Does anyone know how to get rid of this??? (i need to keep the links in the
presentation)

I want powerpoint to play a movie and pause when the movie reach some
specific time 00:02s, 01:01s etc... everytime it pauses i want to resume the
movie when i click the mouse. Is this possible ? How can i do it? If it isn't

I am only asking because I am not completely positive but I figured someone
on here would be able to answer this without me spending an hour trying to
figure out.
I have a powerpoint slide that I made with a hyperlink in it. When you do a
slide show, the link is accessible by clicking on it, which is fine...now my
question is can I copy the slide from powerpoint paste it in an e-mail in
outlook and the link work with just a click on the hyperlink? I just tried it
and it didn't work but I wasn't sure if there was a secret to make it work
that way, if not just let me know.

I just created a new page, it shows up in the "Master Slide" view however it
does not show up in the "Normal Slide" view. Why can't I edit or create a
new blank slide in normal view? The bigger problem is that I cant print the
third page, it only prints the pages that show in the normal page view....

2003 on XP (both SP2)
Is it possible, and how, to add a new Org Chart Style to the Org Chart Style
Gallery?
Do I have to save the new design as something different? Where is the
gallery listing held?
Also once added, how would this new design be distributed throughout the
company?
If this is not possble, what would be the best work-around?

- Using Animation on Chart Series in Slides

I saw a power point presentation at a conference which had a nice animation
effect. Essentially it was an XY scatter graph. The presenter showed the
graph in two states (before/after). He used the animation effect to
transition from the first state to the second state. However, what was
interesting was that when the slide transitioned, you could actually see the
data series move/drift in real-time to the second state. How do you do this?

- Powerpoint 2007 and Multiple Charts

Hello Everyone,
I'm using Powerpoint 2007 (Office 2007 SP2) on a laptop running XP (sp3).
THe problem I am experiencing is that if I have multiple charts (in this case
4) on a single slide, Powerpoint locks up. In addition, if I print the
presentation, some of the charts will on various slides not display. Has
anyone seen this problem before, and if so, is there any workaround or
resolution to this problem?

- Blocking text in PPT 2007

Until recently I've used PowerPoint 2002 in XP but recently started
using PPT 2007 in Windows 7. Now, when I block text within a colored
text box I find it difficult to see (differentiate) the blocked text
from the rest because it is shaded so faintly. Is there a way to make
the selected text more easily visible? Shaded more distinctly?

- Unwanted borders on imported pictures

I have imported JPEG pictures to build and animate a larger diagram. When I
click on the custom animation button (i.e. before I even add animations to
the pictures), I see a thin black border on the top and left edges of each
image.
The images are regular JPEGs, but I have selected to make the white
background colours transparent using the recolour options in PowerPoint.
The unwanted borders are not removed by any of the regular picture border
settings.
How can I remove these unwanted borders or prevent them?

- How do I Merge multiple Power Point files into one

Here is what I want to do ...
1. Create a bunch of small power points 3-4 slides (possible hundreds).
2. On a weekly basis, I want to take several of the small power point files
and merge them into one.
I tried using hyper links, but I do not want to have to click on the link to
execute the slide show. I also tried inserting them as an object, but the
same thing, you have to click on the object to open it up.
Any other ideas?

- Insert username from Windows login automatically

I'm creating a powerpoint presentation that will be edited by different users
throughout the day. I would like their username, as shown in windows, to
appear automatically when the presentation is opened. I have a section that
updates the date and time, but haven't been able to find a way to insert
their name without them manually changing it. Can this be done? Thanks in
