  • Random number again
    • I received help with the following code a few days ago and it works great for what I wanted (e.g. come up with 12 different random numbers). Now I'm trying to adjust it for something different (shuffle 24 different random numbers) but I don't understand how the code works. I've tried plugging numbers in here and there but not getting good results. I would appreciate an explanation of how it works and help with correcting it for 24 numbers so if future adjustments need to be made I can do them.   • How to insert an MPG file into PPT 2007
    • Hi i have a presentation to do. I would like to add a home movie mpg file into one of the slides, so that when the show gets to the slide, it will play the video. I have gone Insert, movie, movie from file, and then added it to the slide, and asked for automatic playing, but i just seem to get a black square and no video. Can anyone please help me with this.   • Write data to a specific Excelsheet and cell from PPT
    • I'm making a test in PPT where some data needs to be written to a given cell in an Excel Worksheet. Example: I've got a page with 3 pictures. When you click on Img1, it should write "a" to a cell in an Excel sheet. When you click on Img2, it should write "b" to that same cell. When you click on Img3, it should write "c" to that same cell. After clicking, it should go to the next page, where it should write to a different cell in the same Excel document. It would be great if the Excel document is running in the background or better, if it isn't visible at all. I hope this is clear enough. If not, please ask me to clarify.

  • How can i enable the "Chinese Translation" in Ribbon?
    • Dear all I would like to know how can to recall the "Chinese Translation" tabs under "Review" for MS PPT 2007? I got such function in MS PPT 2003 and found it was really useful but i could not find this function anymore in 2007. I searched the help and it suggested me to use the "Translate" function under "Proofing" tabs. I accept this as a solution before but yesterday my friend shows me he got the "Chinese Translation" tabs under "Review" that can translate the document within 5 second that was the same speed in PPT 2003..... I checked and confirmed that we both got the "Chinese Translation addin" and both displayed under "Active Application Add-ins" under PowerPoint Options. But i still missing that tabs in Ribbon.... What things i shall do to get back my tabs....please help

  • Combine 2 presentations w/o losing hyperlinks?
    • I have 2 large presentations, each has hyperlinks within the presentation. Each pres also hyperlinks to the other. How can I package the 2 files so the hyperlinks are intact? Using ppt2007. I know I've done this before using ppt 2000 or 2002 but I can't remember how.

  • Copy-Paste problems with PPT 2007 SP2
    • I'm having font problems with ppt. Here's what happens. 1. I copy a string of text from another program (a bibliographic reference from EndNote, as it happens) with italics in the middle and non-italic text on either side. 2. I paste it into a text block in ppt. All the text from the first italic through the end of the text comes up in italics. 3. I paste the same text into a new msg in Outlook. All the fonts are correct. 4. I copy the text from Outlook, and paste it into ppt. Now it's fine. Step 3 shows me that the font information is contained in the original text, but for some reason ppt can't read it. Any ideas why, or how I can fix this problem?

  • PPT 2010 truncates audio when saving as video
    • Hi I have Office 2010 beta and working in PPT 2010 I have an audio file from the clipart gallery in wav format that plays throughout the entire presentation. HOwever, when saving the file as a video, the sound is truncated after 2 loops which is about halfway through the second slide. The file is stored locally, have tried a different sound file, have tried compressing the media before converting. The audio is set to play beyond the duration of the presentation. ideas???

    • I have people send me a pps in email. I am using windows live mail on windows 7. windows live mail will not run pps. If I save the file and click on in then it will run the slide show. What is the problem and how do I fix it? charles

  • Printing without white borders
    • I am trying to print from Power Point. Slide has a Blue backround. When ever I print it on a white page, preview/print shows a white boarder. I have tried selecting scale to fit paper, it reduces that white boarder but still there. How can I print whole page with Blue backround? Thanks

  • Powerpoint 2000 equation editor
    • My daughters old computer is running XP with Powerpoint 2000. She has a need to use the equation editor for a school project, but it does not appear to be installed. I looked in Insert/Object and there was nothing there. So, where do I get it and how do I install it? Is there a version for 2000 or would current equations 3.0 work? All help appreciated.     • When we are opening a PowerPoint 2003 file in PowerPoint 2007,the tables of a slide were overlapped in PowerPoint 2007.We are unable to understand that "why the tables are overlapping in PowerPoint 2007?".This was happened only for this slide apart from all slides. Please help us to know the reason. Note:If you are clicking distributing columns evenly tab of tables in PowerPoint 2003, then the tables were overlapped in PowerPoint 2003.But the tables were overlapped automatically in office 2007

  • Adding Animations in Slide Sorter View
    • In PowerPoint 2003 I was able to add animation schemes to multiple slides at the same time in Slide Sorter view. I can't seem to find a way to do that in PowerPoint 2007 and have to add them one slide at a time. Has Microsoft degraded that capability or am I missing something?

  • Playing movie clips from the original DVD movie disc in a presenta
    • We have been able to secure licensing to use certain movies in our business presentations, however these licenses of course don't permit the use if you rip it from a dvd. We typically will have 4-6 movie clips we use in a presentation and were trying to find a way to play them directly from the dvd disc (which is allowed under the license). So I didn't know if there was a way to bookmark spots on DVD's in the presentation so you didn't have to find the right spot every time? Or maybe there is a third-party software that can do this? I am willing to minimize my presentation to play the clips and swap discs while I speak. Thanks!

  • How to record which objects a user clicks on
    • Hi, New to the forums here. I would like to know how to track which objects a user clicks during a powerpoint presentation. I realize this will probably require a macro and that is where I need help. I'm fairly tech savvy, but I don't know how to program in VB. Whenever there is a mouseclick on an object in the slideshow, I would like two things to happen: 1) Advance to a particular slide (which I see can be set easily in the program) 2) Write data, to a separate file (it can be a text file), that reports which object was clicked. This would happen in the background so the user is not aware of it. This file ideally would keep a log of whatever objects were clicked within that entire presentation and then of course be saved upon exit. It would be nice, also, if a new log file was generated each time the presentation was run. Is this possible? Or would it be better to consider another kind of presentation medium for my needs? Thanks! .

    • Hi everyone, Sometimes edit data in Excel charts that are pasted in PP are grayed out , for example I have a PP that has 4 Excel charts 3 of them I can click on edit data and change the data for the chart but one of the charts the option of edit data is disabled .   • PP 2003: Problem with slide masters
    • I have a presentation I've created in Powerpoint 2003. It has 6 different masters. When I make a change to a master, shouldn't I see that change reflected in the slides that are using that master? What I'm seeing instead is the change being applied only to the slide that happened to be selected when I changed to the Slide Master view, even when I choose to "apply to selected slides." Newly created slides, of course, are correct. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

  • How do you ungroup charts in Powerpoint 07?
    • I'm trying to ungroup a chart in Powerpoint 07 like you would ungroup an object. You used to be able to do it in previous versions by right-clicking on the chart and then selecting ungroup. Can anybody help please? Thanks

  • PowerPoint custom animation autopreview doesn't work
    • In PowerPoint 2003, the "Play" button in the custom animation window would actually play the slide and you could watch the advanced timeline. In PowerPoint 2007, with the AutoPreview selected, clicking play doesn't do anything but show the slide without the animation. To see the animation you have to click slideshow and of course, you don't get to see the timeline. Why was this VERY useful feature was disabled?

    • I have created a powerpoint presentation using my companies template slides. I have imported a slide with an animation from another person's presentation. However, the "picture" of the animation that came into my presentation doesn't line up on the template slide properly. It overlaps our company logo. I am unable to move this "picture" of the animation. Can that be moved?

  • remove line around slide when sending to Word
    • how do I remove the default shadow behind my slides and the line around the edge of my slides so I can use Send to Word and not have my slides end up with an uneditable hard edge around them? Thanks for any insight.

  • Format Painter just won't work
    • When ever I highlight a text box that has the format I want to use somewhere else in the presnetation and click on Format Painter and then click on the text I want to change ... NOTHING Happens. This is in PP 2007 and VISTA. Why? Could follow that methodology in all previous PP versions. Thanks!

    • Consider the case where - besides a presentation - you'd also like to show live demos of some software. I really like presenter view as it helps a lot during the slide based part. However, once I come to the "and now for the demo" slide, I'd need a one click solution (preferred) to toggle between presenter view (with projector being used as "second monitor") and mirroring my desktop for the demo. Is there a way to achieve this?

I can come up with the code to generate 12 random numbers, but with my code there's always the chance that some of the numbers will be the same (repeated). My PowerPoint VBA addin (written and tested in PowerPoint 2000-2003) stopped working beginning with version 2007: Whenever it calls one of the following commands CurrentPresentation.SlideMaster.Background.Pickup CurrentPresentation.TitleMaster.Background.Pickup CurrentPresentation.Slides(I).Master.Background.Pickup CurrentPresentation.Slides(I).Background.Pickup Slide.Background.Visible it shows the following runtime error: Laufzeitfehler '-2147188160 (80048240)': ShapeRange (unknown member) : Invalid request. This operation can't be applied to a background shape. When I go into the Debugger and add the Background object to the watch list, it shows the error text "<ShapeRange.* Invalid request. This operation can't be applied to a background shape.>" for most properties of the Background object (all except .Application .AutoShapeType .BlackWhiteMode .Count .Creator .Fill .Shadow .Type .Item 1; and except .Parent and .MediaFormat which say "Anwendungs- oder objektdefinierter Fehler" (=application or object defined error)) Any ideas how to get .Background working in newer PowerPoint versions?   • VBA- Deleting a file problem...
    • 'Anyone know of a way to run a command line from within PPT without calling to an external BAT or CMD file? I'm trying to simply delete some folders within which is an addin that my code already unloaded and removed and unregistered, and now I want its folders deleted (within the same PPT session that started the macro). But PPT holds on to the addin file thinking it's still being used (which it's not) and won't let RmDir or Kill code remove it. BUT I can make it run a CMD file consisting of "RMDIR C:\foldername /s /q" and it works fine. The problem is due to technicalities, I'd rather not use an external file. Is there another way?     • I am currently making a presentation of our products on powerpoint. ( Each slide with one product image and description such as p_code,Composition,Price). I have an Excel file where i calculate prices in Euro & Dollar. I want to be able to connect the cells in excel with corresponding product slide on powerpoint. I want to do this to avoid repetition of work when the price changes, due to fluctuations in forex, to automatically reflect on the corresponding slide. I have close to 200 slides and it keeps growing. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks Saket

  • A slider to adjust the speed of a cutom animation
    • I have a simple animatin that moves back and forth on the screen from left to right. I would like to add a slider so that the user can speed up the animation and slow it down based upon he slider. Is this possible? The animation speeds that are selectable in the custom options are .5, 1, 2, 3. I would like it to move up in more steps than this. For example I would like the range to be between .5 and 2 with .25 steps. Perhaps I am in over my head. This is what I would like. I am trying to illustrate a principle with this slide.

    • hello, I'm trying to write a macro to take the images in a powerpoint presentation and save them to a separate folder.   • Cycling pictures on title slide

I am trying to get a continuous cycle of about 3 photos fading in and out one after the other on the first slide of a presntation and I need the process to repeat itself unti lthe meeting is ready to begin and then the presenter can click and move on to the next slide.   • I NEED HELP to repeat a cycling of photos on one slide...
    • Hello! I am currently in the process of putting together a presentation and for the first slide I need a cylce of about 3 photos fading in and fading out one after the other and then I need the process to repeat until the meeting is ready to begin and the presenter can move on to the next slide (so all who are coming into the meeting will see this cycle of photos on the screen). Is there a way i can continuously repeat this cycle on the one slide until the next click?

  • Using 1 slide multiple times in a presentation
    • Hello All, I have a peculiar question. We use a presentation running a loop on a kiosk to display the Targets, Goals, etc. This information is updated Daily. Management wants the summary slide (slide No. 1) displayed every 4th slide. Rather than having duplicates we tried using the Custom Show, however at the end of the show, when the loop to the first slide happens, the show enters into a loop with the last call to slide 1 and the remaining slides left. For example: Slide 1,2,3,1,4,5,1,6,7,1,6,7,1,6,7..... How can I correct this? Thanks!

  • Pivot Charts from Excel not to update automatically
    • Hi there, I have a pivot chart in Excel and want to copy this to Powerpoint. Copy>Paste obviously works fine but as soon as I change the pivot table feeding the chart, e.g. adding row data it updates the chart in powerpoint. How can I prevent this from happening as I want to copy>paste different variations of the pivot chart into one powerpoint presentation? As soon as I do this it updates all graphs in the presentation to whatever the pivot chart is showing at that time... Thank you for any help! W
