- Album Art Corruption?
-
I'm running WMP 11 on Vista 64bit. Have recently ripped about 100 CDs and
just now have had a problem whereby many CDs in the library are displaying
the same (wrong) piece of album art. Only "different" thing I have done
recently is scan a few album covers (if I couldn't find them on internet).
What could be the cause and correction of this problem? Eg. is there a
way to tell WMP to re-build the library from scratch (which hopefully woudl
sort out this album art issue in the process??).
Thanks

- Windows Media Player doesn't work
-
Ok so the other day I restarted my computer. Once it loaded back up I went to
use windows media player and all my music had gone. My playlists had all
disappeared and I was told there was no music in my library. I tried to add
my music again but when I tried, it did nothing. So now I can only listen to
a track on there but it doesn't get stored in the library and everything I
once had in there is now gone. Has anyone encountered the same problem? I'm
using Windows Vista Business and the version of windows media player that I
have is 11.0.6000.6353
Any help would be great.
Thanks

- WMP11: Finding tracks that are not in my default location
-
I have "Add media files to library when played" so I have a proportion
of my files outside my main media directory.
Is there an easy way to find these files? I can write an OLE program,
but I'm feeling lazy.
I've just bought a Logitech Squeezebox Duet, and its media server uses
a single root directory. It follows shortcuts though, so once I've
found the "outlying areas", I can point to them.

- No Music in Library
-
After reading through several troubleshooting guides, it seems I have a
broken Windows Media Player library. However, none of the methods work for
me. I cannot do delete my files because it keeps saying it's in use by
another program or person, even if I restart my computer. It says the title
of the file cannot have a "\" symbol in it, so I can't rename it. There is no
"Advanced" option under "Tools", so I can't repair it that way either. I have
WMP version 11 and Window XP Service Pack 3. I want my music to show up in
the library.

- Cannot open .asx URLs
-
I'm running IE8 on a Vista Home Premium 64 bit with SP2. I can no longer
click on a media link on several web pages I visit to open up the media on
Media Player 11. Whenever I click on a media link with a .asx file I receive
an error message that "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page". The
open way I can open the link is to open Media Player, select File then Open
URL then manually enter the URL. This was not a problem until I installed
IE8. Additionally, I installed Mozilla's Firefox and the links I select will
work with Firefox. Media Player is the default program to open any .asx
files . The problem seems to be only with .asx files and IE8, as .mp3 files
open with no problems. Any suggestions will be appreciated, short of
ditching Internet Explorer which I prefer over Firefox. Thanks.

Tried the "Play To" feature tonight to play to my laptop connected to my

Great idea, to be able to sit at my desk and play music or movies out on the

Ok, so I just bought a new laptop with Win7 on it. I copied some playlists I
created on my desktop computer (that uses Win Vista 32-bit) and put them in
the proper folder to play them on my laptop. They were recognized by Windows
Media Player, but none of the songs would play. I eventually gave up and
deleted them and even deleted them out of my recycle bin. However, even

playlists are still listed. When I try and click on one, nothing pulls up.
How can I get these out of there? Never had this issue with my desktop or

- Library doesn't update
-
I have Windows Media Player 12 and Windows 7. I use WMP to sync my Zen
Microphoto mp3 player (it's so old the original software doesn't work and
they're not releasing new software for it), but lately when I try to sync
voice recordings, it can't find the new files, unless I delete something
first. Only then does it update the library and find the new files. The mp3
player is not full, and I'm pretty sure the library's not corrupted, because
then it wouldn't update at all. I'd just like to not have to delete something
in order for the library to update.

- WMP media info update
-
Apparently WMP does not support or include CD-text which is needed for
burning with and reading media information. Here is the odd thing. Itunes
does. So I figure o.k. burn it with Itunes. But guess what. Same problem.
Even with CD-text Itunes will only display media info created by the original
Itunes program, and not on another PC Itunes or WMP.
So what is the deal? Apparently PC players do not support CD-text. The CD
files are my original works and are not registered online with Grace whatever
it's called. So it would great if there was a way to have the media info
displayed without using the online service.

- How can I organize multiple disc sets as one album?
-
I have been using iTunes for many years but I decided to give WMP a try since
I am using Media Center and also want a lossless codec.
I configured Media Player to automatically rip the CDs as I place them in
the drive. The process automatically creates a directory for each CD, even
when they are the same album. I really don't want to have multiple icons in
my album list, so what can I do to simply the layout after the tracks are all
ripped.
I spent about 10 minutes renaming both icons with a common name and then
renumbering the tracks. I have about 45 more double albums to rip and can
already see an unacceptable amount of work organizing the albums. When I use
iTunes I can avoid a lot of this hassle by using the "Disk #" field. I don't
see this information tracked by Windows Media Player. That seems odd because
the information from iTunes seems to be handled just fine when I try and
organize the MP3 files that I have already ripped.

- Songs in data CD playing out of order
-
I've got Windows Vista Media Player 11. I've recorded a number of data CDs
containing songs in the mp3 format with the playlist in the m3u format, which
discs play just fine on a Sony player I have. The songs are played in the
order I set. However, the last data CD of mp3 songs I recorded, also with an
m3u playlist, does NOT play the songs in the right order in the Sony player.
I tried recording the CD a couple different ways (e.g., at a slower speed) to
see if it would make any difference, but it doesn't. Can anyone explain
this? Is a recent update perhaps responsible? This would not be the first
time Microsoft updates have created problems in relation to Sony technology,
which is why I'm wondering if the culprit is a recent update.

I am using Windows Media Player Version 11.0.6002.18111 on Windows Vista Home

of the words "Media Guide" I don't know why it is there, because there is no
image that should be loaded there.
It hasn't always been there, it just appeared yesterday. I closed it, and
restarted the computer, and it is still there. I opened the player on a

Why is it there and how can I remove it?

copy recorded speech, recorded on a CD-R disc in the mp3 format. When I open
WMP and select 'Rip', insert the CD, L-click on Rip, the disc 'runs' ( I
assume being read..) and then will start to play with the advice "still on
the screen" : To begin, insert an audio CD into the CD drive. I have tried
downloading 'codec's'; changing the settings to mp3, everything I can
possibly think of.. Do I have a program glitch within WMP when it was factory
installed? "Please help,... someone...?"

- Windows Media Player 10 Failure to Add Songs to Library Automatica
-
I'm running WMP10 and Windows XP. I've been using the Player for 4 years and
this is the first time this issue has ever occurred. My laptop seemingly
randomly froze recently, and I had not choice but to shut it down manually
and restart it. After the restart, everything was back to normal except the
WMP. It won't detect the songs in My Music folder as it has done for the last
4 years. If I go to the folder and play the song, it will work fine but it
won't add the song to my WMP library, making a continuous playback of all my
songs impossible and destroying the point of having a Player. I've already
tried the "Add to Library..." button and manually added the music folder to
the list. Later, however, I found that even the default folders for the "Add
to Library..." option have dissapeared in addition to the ones I set up
manually. I don't know why. So all I see when I click on Library>Songs is
"Player is searching for digital media files...Click here to add files to the
library files now." Of course, "Click here" just takes me to the page I've
already tried using to add files, so I don't know what's wrong with the
player since the music files themselves are where they've always been. Any
suggestions?

- cannot find file
-
I moved my music library to an external hard drive. Now windows media player
cannot find any file. It tells me that "the item might point to a file that
has been moved, renamed, or deleted." I know that. Even if I open the music
folder in my external hardrive and click "play", or "open with", media player
cannot find it. Real player can find it, but I never really used it before
that library has not had a change. Can anyone help me get media player to
find these files.

- WMV plays on WMP12 (Win7) but not WMP11 (WinXP)
-
I have a user who received a PPT from another user who uses Windows 7/WMP12.
The PPT includes WMV videos. The user who received the file is running
XP/WMP11 and he cannot view the videos, it gives him an error. I tried
opening the videos on another Win7 PC that I have here and it works fine.
Is there any way to get the codecs from WMP12 onto WMP11? I tried
downloading the latest codec pack from Microsoft, but that didn't work.
Normally, I would just install VLC and be done with it, but since it is in a
PPT presentation that this user must use in this office, I need to find a way
to get WMP11 to play it.

- Netscape Browser Does Not Have...Plug-Ins Installed
-
I just reinstalled my operating system and as a result cannot play 75 CDs
worth of songs I have on an external hard-drive ripped from various CDs.
While trying to download the license I get the following error message Your
Netscape browser does not have "Microsoft Windows Services" plug-ins
installed. I use Media Player 11 on a XP with Service Pack 3.
Other than re-ripping these songs, is there an easy way to play these songs?

- WMP 11.0.6002.18111 runing OS Vista 32
-
I have alwayed used WMP to play my MPEG2 files which have on my computer
awaiting DVD production. I tried to load Roxie Easy Media Creator Suite 9
onto my computer to give my another avenue of DVD creation. After reboot I
was informed by the computer that it had blocked a driver trying to load from
Sonic MY DVD which was interfering with WMP. Realizing there was going to be
a compatability error I removed Roxie Suite and then went to play my MPEG
files to be certain no harm was done. WMP now refuses to play the MPEG files
and gives an error code "C00D11B1". How can I reload WMP to its orriginal
configuation before I messed it up.
