- Update for ITE - Other hardware - UMass Storage Device (310)
-
Hi - thanks for any help. Please forgive me if I am not describing my issue
correctly.
I installed the ITE - Other hardware - UMass Storage Device(310) update via
Microsoft Update and my usb thumb drive now does not show up in the "Safely
Remove Hardware" when I want to stop and eject it. It DOES however still
appear in the "My Computer" as a valid drive. Also, after I installed the
update, I got a blue screen (I was not able to document the error codes, but
if it happens again I will). If anyone can help - I would appreciate it. As
an aside, can this update be uninstalled?
Thanks,
Andrew

- Error number: 0x80090008
-
I've been working with Microsoft for over a month without resolution and it
has now come down to reinstalling my operating system which I really would
like to avoid. I noticed in December that I was not getting any update
notifications so after about 2 weeks I went to the website for updates and
when I click express I now get Error number: 0x80090008. This even comes up
when I try to update windows defender software. I can't believe that there
is no reference to what this error number refers to. Anyone have any
suggestions? Thanks.

- KB971644 fails 80073712
-
Thia has been failing since October last year. For a long while, there
were two updates that failed every time (the other being KB973565) but
eventually I ran the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista as
recommended in the help and KB973565 then installed. But KB971644 still
fails every time.
It's the Platform Update for Windows Vista, and I'm on Vista Business
(Build 6002: Service Pack 2).
Anyone got any ideas?

Is there a way to un-expire an update and push it down? What can I do if I

- Windows Update uninstall problem
-
I hope I posted this in the right place.
I tried to uninstall an update using a C++ application I made. I use the
Windows Update Agent API create an IUpdateSession then an IUpdateInstaller I
set the update collection for the installer and then use the
IUpdateInstaller->Uninstall method but I get the 0x80240028 error message. I
understand that this means an uninstall can be started only by WSUS but is
there any way I to send a command to the WSUS to uninstall the update or to
"associate" my application with the WSUS server?
Thank you!

We downloaded Windows Defender KB915597 Definition 1.75.377.0 today. Ever
since, Outlook 2003 malfunctions. The first problem was that we could
neither send nor receive email, so we attempted to repair Office 2003. Now,
not only can we still not receive, but we cannot search our Outlook folders!
Do we need to uninstall that update, or is something else wrong?

Hopefully this will help someone. I am running XP Home. I also could not
install the download many times (now I don't know how to get rid of that
yellow shield on the bottom of the screen) but anyway: I checked back to see
if the SQL Server 5 had indeed completely installed - it didn't and when
trying to finish the install I found out that my RAM memory had to be
increased (AGAIN) before the install could be completed. So off to see the
Geek Squad to see about getting this done. Getting a mgs. of low virtual
memory once is what led me find out this information.

- Windows update fails to complete upload!!!
-
I am working on a brand new computer , dual core 64bit, 4 gigs of ram,
terrabyte HD, ATi Graphics card, running Windows 7 64bit Professional. This
computerwas built by an independent IT service guy with years of experience.
The computer runs fine. Work on the internet and shows no problems when
scanned by System Mechanic V9.5 which i just downloaded and installed.
The problem is that it cannot install security and Windows up dates. no
matter how many times I repeat the process. It says it installs some but
after restarting the are not their. The update numbers are KB9734431, 972270,
978207, 976098, 974431 and 977074. Often when I initiate the downloads I get
the Message screen "Some updates were not installed" Succededed: 2 updates
Failed:3 Updates and under Error(s) found, i get the Code 80073683 "Windows
encountered an unknown error"
Restarting the system yields the same results over and over.
Anybody got any ideas?

Anybody else find they can't download the x86 option from KB 919104, that is
the link labelled
"Dowload the windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe package now"
which has URL ..
http://download.windowsupdate.com/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/7.4.7600.226/windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe
I've tried this on 2 separate machines - Vista Business Premium & Vista Home
Premium - both 32 bit with just a time out, can't find server, response on
both.
Is there a newer Windows Update Agent version hiding somewhere?
I'd appreciate knowing since my Windows & Defender Updater doesn't work on
the Business laptop any longer - either a corrupt file, a virus or both.
With thanks

- Security Update Un-install folders
-
Can anyone advise me please.
I would like to know if it is advisable to remove old security update
un-install folders. I can't find any formal advice anywhere. I do not remove
these folders and some of them go back serveral years. If I do remove them
are there any implications? Do other people remove them. I am only thinking
about Servers. Are there any tools that manage this process.

- Error code: 0x800F0219 when trying to download an update for XP
-
I am trying to download an update for Tiger Jet USB Composit Device so that I
can use a specific VOIP product. I keep getting "driver installation file is
missing a necessary entry" (code 28). I had exausted vendor support & finally
found an update @ Microsoft, but when I try to download & install I get
"Installation Failed" Error Code : 0x800F0219. Please, can anyone help me? I
am about ready for a room with padded wallpaper.

- Install and Scan for update failure
-
There are two updates. One optional (Nvidia Geforce 9200 Graphics Drivers) ;
One important (Internet explorer 8 for vista). And both when i have tried to
install them have resulted in failure to install. I have tried to install
both separately and, together both fail. Scan for updates also fails and,
prompts me telling me it encountered an unknown error with error code:
80070490.

- Locks up when clicking on links in open web pages
-
I don't know if I'm posting this in the correct discussion group, and if not,
sorry for the trouble. Could you direct me if I'm wrong?
The issue is that the internet connection locks up if I click on a link or
attempt to print from within an open website. It does not happen each time,
but often enough to make me want to pull my hair! I have to shut down the
connection - the message says it is 'not responding,' and reconnect,
sometimes 2 or 3 times, to be able to use the link from the website.
I have a second laptop, and it doesn't have this problem. It's using VISTA.
The problem is in the laptop using XP Professional.
Thanks for any information.
